WASHINGTON---I remember many nights at Billy Goat Tavern in Chicago talking politics with Carlos Gomez Hernandez, the CLTV political reporter who died Sunday night way too soon at age 36. He would call me, naturally, Dulce as we would race through the political stories of the day. As fate had it I got to know the woman he married, WGN-TV's Randi Belisomo, when she spent several months in Washington in 2006 as a graduate student at Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism. I was thrilled that these two found each other and was honored to be at their wedding.
Hernandez and his relentless love of political reporting will be missed.

I watched him as a frequent guest on Chicago Tonight (PBS). He came off as an intelligent man who was wise beyond his years with a great energy about him.
He will be missed.
My sincere sympathy to Carlos' family and friends. What a tragic loss. He will live in our hearts forever for he made this world a better place.
I will miss your reporting on Public Radio. But I also know that there will be a ressurection in which you will a part of as stated in John 5:28,29. Jesus' word are faithful and true.
