Looks like there is no CUTTING BACK at the WHITE HOUSE. looks like the economy is booming over there. Spare no expense at the OBAMA HOUSEHOLD, after all the tax payers are footing the bill and they know how to FLEECE THE TAX PAYER. GIVE THE LEFT OVERS TO THE MILLIONS WHO ARE STARVING.
Also, I'm not crazy about having such a formal dinner at a couple of 10-toppers. The chairs look like they have cushions *tied* to them-- like you might find in your granny's kitchen. I'm sure they were going for an intimate setting, but look how close those chairs are-- it's more crowded than intimate, and people on the other side of a 10-topper are actually fairly far away-- more than a standard dining table would have been. The place settings look crowded-- it looks more like the kids' table at Thanksgiving than an appropriate seating arrangement for a state dinner with a head of state... JMO.... Thanks, Lynn, for sharing this! I usually can't stand all the hoopla about what Michelle is wearing NOW, but she was quite gorgeous, and a state dinner is very exciting!
This is the first time in ages that a first lady hasn't insisted in buying all new china in a pattern she has personally chosen. Notice that Mrs. Obama is using china from former administrations. And you are STILL blaming her ? Did anyone blame Mrs. Bush when she held state dinners and the economy was starting to nosedive??? If Mrs. McCain were the first lady wouldn't you expect her to be hosting state dinners along with her husband ? I daresay you would see a lot more being spent if Mrs. McCain were the first lady !
I am proud that President Obama had such a "luxe" state dinner. this is the type event that makes the world look at us in a better light. He did not take food from the mouths of the poor, but represented the promise that America is and can do. Shame on anyone who derides this President. He is making America a proud and beloved country again among the world, not what it was under W.
What a strong statement and cohesive design in table and place settings! The overall design is definately a big step away from most os us are used to seeing. I'm making plans for a Sept'10 wedding. I'm thrilled to have spotted this arraignement. The chosen colors just happen to be purple and darker earth colors including green. This application of purple and green is deffinately in my topfive!
were there designated seating assignments? curious where the two party crashers actually ate their dinner - standing next to biden?
