DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2009

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and the Economic Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. The President will then meet separately with senior advisors and the Vice President in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

Later, the President will attend a working lunch with President Zapatero of Spain in the Cabinet Room. This lunch is closed press. President Obama and President Zapatero will then make statements to the press in the Oval Office. This is pooled press.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with Senator Evan Bayh in the Oval Office. The President and the Vice President will later meet with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

In the evening, the President, the First Lady, the Vice President, and Dr. Jill Biden will attend "In Performance at the White House: Fiesta Latina," a concert celebrating Hispanic musical heritage on the South Lawn. The President will deliver brief remarks at the beginning of the concert. The concert will be televised on October 15th on public broadcasting stations nationwide as part of WETA Washington, D.C.'s "In Performance at the White House" series, and will also be broadcast on Telemundo on October 18th and on V-me, the national Spanish language network partnered with public television, on December 25th. Participants include Marc Anthony, Jimmy Smits, Pete Escovedo, Gloria Estefan, José Feliciano, George Lopez, Thalía, Tito "El Bambino", the Bachata music group Aventura, and the Chicano rock band Los Lobos, with Sheila E. leading the house band. The President's remarks are pooled press and the event will be streamed live on www.WhiteHouse.gov.
