DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2009

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and the Economic Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. The President will then meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

Later, the President will meet with Senator Jim Webb in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press. The President will then have lunch with the Vice President in the Private Dining Room. This lunch is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will hold an event in the East Room where he will call on Americans to stand up to the opponents of a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency and urge Congress to act quickly in passing a regulatory reform package by the end of the year. Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner will also attend. This event is open press. Prior to the meeting, the President and Secretary Geithner will meet with five Americans who represent the millions from across the country who have been hurt by the outdated rules regulating the financial sector. Senator Chris Dodd and Congressman Barney Frank will also attend the meeting. This meeting is closed press.

Later, the President will meet with his national security team on Afghanistan and Pakistan in the Situation Room. This meeting is closed press. Expected attendees include:
