WASHINGTON--Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Attorney General Eric Holder, in Chicago on Wednesday in the wake of the latest outbreak of student violence in the city-this time at Fenger High School-- are expected to meet privately with families, students and local officials impacted by this horrible crime. The two Obama cabinet members will breakfast with Mayor Daley at 7:30 a.m. joined by a selection of aldermen and religious and community leaders.

UPDATE 5:32 P.M. CHICAGO TIME
Holder, Duncan, Daley, Michael W. Scott, President, Chicago Board of Education, Ron Huberman, Chief Executive Officer, Chicago Public Schools and Elizabeth Dozier, Principal, Fenger High School will discuss student violence at an 11 a.m. press conference at City Hall.
END UPDATE

Amy Brundage, a White House spokeswoman said in a statement,"President Obama is committed to combating violence on our streets and in our schools, both in Chicago -- which has been particularly hard-hit -- and around the nation. The Administration has focused on the issue of youth violence from the outset, hosting a gang violence prevention conference at the White House in August, making a multi-billion dollar investment in local law enforcement in the Recovery Act, and expanding support for local law enforcement through COPS and Byrne Grants.

"Tomorrow, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Education will discuss this ongoing commitment directly with some of the families most affected by the horrific recent violence in Chicago."

earlier, I filed:
WASHINGTON--Education Sec. Arne Duncan and Attorney General Eric Holder hit Chicago on Wednesday in the wake of a gang-related murder of a Fenger High School teen. The videotaped incident caught a lot of national attention and President Obama dispatched the two cabinet members back home to see what their presence can do to help. Holder and Duncan--a former Chicago public schools chief--will be meeting with local officials and students. There will be some sort of a press conference. I'm expecting details soon. Holder and Duncan will not be going to Fenger because it could be too disruptive.

Duncan, in a previously scheduled event, will also be delivering a speech in Chicago on Wednesday at the Westin Hotel before the Grant Makers for Education national conference.

No guns were involved in this savage killing of Derrion Albert. Banning firearms well exemplifies this stupidity of left liberals; pointless placebo. In the absence of firearms, people will kill another way.

Primary responsibility for tragic incidents like this belongs to parents. Poverty is no excuse for this type of horrific behavior. Poor or rich, people know this difference between right and wrong. This is a failure of parents to impart acceptable moral values to their children and a failure of parents to effect acceptable discipline.

Secondary responsibility for these events belongs to unique cultural groups regardless of skin color. However, this type of violence does seem much higher within Black America and Brown America.

Over in Los Angeles, California, aggressive law enforcement actions are taken including prosecution of gangs under the RICO statue, including confiscation of personal belongings, cars and homes. Violence of this nature is greatly reduced but not fully eliminated.

Although Child Protective Services (foster homes) is not all this good of a solution, parents who are irresponsible should be prosecuted, jailed and their kids taken away.

Those kids out on the streets during school hours should be arrested and jailed under current truancy laws.

Adults involved in street crime and violence should be vigorously prosecuted. Sweeping roundups as in Los Angeles should be carried out along with RICO prosecution of gang members.

Our streets need to be cleared and cleaned of people like this.

My attitude may seem harsh but this is the only viable solution. Once into early teens and displaying this type of behavior, there is no rehabilitation; this behavior lasts for life.

Ultimate solution is to end poverty, provide good educations, engage kids in activities especially after school and, most important, hold parents responsible.

In the short term, only solution is jailing these thugs. Long term, only well planned assistance, effective assistance will end all this violence.

This is a failure on the part of parents, on the part of cultural groups and on the part of government to address these problems intelligently and effectively.

Perhaps if teens at Fenger H.S. or anywhere else in Barack's old community organizing stomping grounds needed lessons in fisting then maybe they might have brought the man put in charge of lessening violence in American schools, Kevin Jennings.
Instead Obama chooses to flaunt his incompetence by bringing Arne Duncan back to deal with unfinished business that, like the inability to grapple with poor academic performance, should have been better dealt with BEFORE he was promoted to a national post as Sec. of Ed.

THE PRESIDENT HAS SENT THE COUNTRY'S ATTORNEY IN WITH ARNIE DUNCAN TO FIGURE THINGS OUT, AND BRING PEACE TO CHICAGO, FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL!
STOP THE VIOLENCE, STOP THE FOOLISHNESS, LETS CLEAN UP THE STREETS, AND GET THE NEIGHBORHOODS BACK IN ORDER, ALTGELD GARDEN CITIZENS SHOULDN'T BE SHIPPED INTO OTHER COMMUNITIES LIKE CATTLE, THEY SHOULD HAVE THEIR OWN SCHOOL, IF YOU WON'T LET THEM IN CARVER MILITARY ACADEMY, BUILD THEM ANOTHER SCHOOL TO GO TO, LETS NOT TRY TO REINVENT THE WHEEL, LETS USE COMMON SENSE!
LETS RESPECT ONE ANOTHER, BUT DON'T SEND SOMEONE INTO FOREIGN TERRITORY OVER NONSENSE, LETS BE SMART FOR A CHANGE!

The Mayor of Chicago looking for a handout from the Obama Adminstration. A handout incidentally
Uncle Sam doesn't have.
Politicans think this type of horrible incident is new with inner city youths? Chicago has known for a long time, they have a youth gang violence program. Now they are looking for money from the Government to fix a problem that Goverment can't fix. Fatherless homes, babies having babies which resulting poverty. The Goverment can't help that!!! Why should responsible people accross the nationfoot the bill for Chicago's irresponsible citizens!!
Goverment can't fix a person's morality.

'FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL'...LOL YOU IDIOT!!!!
