WASHINGTON--Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) who is balking at supporting the Democratic leadership health care plan because states would be allowed to "opt out" of the public option met briefly Wednesday afternoon with White House health czar Nancy-Ann DeParle. Burris is suddenly more relevant because Democrats need 60 votes in order to advance the legislation and need Burris to make the measure filibuster-proof.
The meeting lasted about 30 minutes.
"Senator Burris was pleased with the meeting, but said it shows there is still a lot of work that lies ahead," said Jim O'Connor, Burris Communications Director
