DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

MONDAY, AUGUST 3, 2009

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. The President and the Vice President will receive the Economic Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

The President and the Vice President will join Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki, Senator Jim Webb, former Senator John Warner and other administration officials at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia to mark the implementation of the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The bill honors the countless sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform by providing them with comprehensive educational benefits. On August 1st, the Department of Veterans Affairs will begin distributing tuition payments to schools participating in the program. The event is open to pre-credentialed media; the deadline to request credentials has already passed.

After returning to the White House, the President will meet one-on-one with His Highness Shaykh Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, in the Oval Office. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting. The President and the Vice President will then have lunch with the Amir in the Old Family Dining Room. The lunch is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. He will then meet with Senator Tom Harkin in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
