Rev. Jeremiah Wright apologizes about blaming "them Jews" for keeping him from Obama

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the former pastor at Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ and President Obama's former spiritual leader, got into another jam this week.

In an interview with David Squires, a columnist from the Newport News, Va. Daily Press, Wright blamed "them Jews" for keeping him from talking to President Obama. Wright then made it worse by saying in another interview he meant "Zionists." But on Friday he said he "misspoke" and issued an apology. I write on Wright and the murder at the U.S. Memorial Holocaust Museum--and President Obama's two speeches on Holocaust denial--over at PoliticsDaily.com.

In the case of Wright, his latest remarks about Jews once again put him in the news. In an interview with David Squires, a columnist from the Newport News, Va. Daily Press, Wright blamed "them Jews" for keeping him from talking to President Obama.

"Them Jews ain't going to let him talk to me," Wright said. "I told my baby daughter that he'll talk to me in five years when he's a lame duck, or in eight years when he's out of office." He added: "They will not let him to talk to somebody who calls a spade what it is. I said from the beginning. He's a politician, I'm a pastor. He's got to do what politicians do."

Wright, discussing his comments with Sirius/XM radio's host Mark Thompson on "Make it Plain," may have thought he issued a clarification--certainly to me no apology--but only added to the damage.

Said Wright, "I'm not talking about all Jews, all people of the Jewish faith, I'm talking about Zionists... I'm talking about facts, historical facts. I'm not talking about emotionally charged words.

"They can jump on that phrase if they want to,'' he said, "but they can't undo history and they can't undo the fact of Jewish historians and Jewish theologians who write about what's going on."

On Friday, the Daily Press reported that Wright posted a statement on his Facebook page.

Wrote Wright, "I am extremely disturbed and deeply saddened that once again my comments as reflected in the June 10, 2009, Daily Press article has resurfaced a divisive debate about my relationship with President Barack Obama. I love President Obama as my son, and support and honor him as the President of the United States of America and leader of the free world. I apologize to the Jewish community and all others who were offended by the way in which I framed my comments. I misspoke. I meant no harm or ill-will to the American Jewish community or the Obama Administration. My great respect for the Jewish faith and the foundational (and central) part of my Judeo Christian tradition are unquestionable, and I pray that all whom I have hurt accept my sincerest apology."

A rose by any other name is a rose.
A Jew by any other name is a Jew.
And a bigot is always a bigot. Rev. Wright is a bigot. Period.

I think Rev. Jeremiah Wright should just be ignored. He is just an envious man looking for attention and still living in the past.

Jeremiah Wright is as much an anti-Semitic bigot as any KKK member or Muslim ever born.

He said what he really meant to say, he only tried to backtrack when questioned about it. Everything that he says is done for a reason. He purposely inflames every comment to get a reaction. It's like a 2 year old seeking attention at any cost.

Rev. Wright is jealous of the success of his young former parishioner. He glories in the limelight and seems to take delight in making outrageous and offensive comments. Thank God someone on the White House staff is keeping him away from pestering and possibly contaminating the President, a President who continues to stay above ethnic and religious differences. Rev. Wright should simply shut up.

Who cares about this little hustler, punk radical Wright. He's dime a dozen. What the media failed to investigate and the idiot liberals refused to consider was "How can Obama VOLUNTARILY sit in that "church" (circus) for 20 years and claim he is not a radical"? Politician
slimes always lie about their beliefs in the course of a campaign. You're supposed to look at their life history and votes in office to make your choice. This was totally ignored when the media turned the campaign into a love fest for the Messiah Obama. Now we will pay for being so stupid and ignoring his radical life history.

Hurtful comments by the reverend! Ouch! Reminds me of when Rahm Emanuel's father said of his son, "Obviously, he’ll influence the president to be pro-Israel. Why wouldn’t he? What is he, an Arab? He’s not going to be mopping floors at the White House."

Our President spent TWENTY years listening to this man. His foreign policy reflects Reverend Wright's influence on him.

You would think that a person of his age and his experiences knows when it's best to sit down and be quiet. It is unfortunate that so many pastors find it hard to put thier ego's second to what's right.

FIRST OF ALL THE MAN APOLOGIZED, AND SECONDLY REV. WRIGHT ISN'T JEALOUS OF ANYONE, DON'T LET HANNITY AND HIS MINIONS CONFUSE YOU, GO TO TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST ON 95TH STREET AND YOU WILL SEE THE MARK THE MAN MADE THERE!
HE ISN'T PERFECT BUT HE ISN'T A DRAFT-DODGER LIKE DICK CHENEY EITHER!
I WOULD ADVISE ALL OF YOU TO LOOK INTO THE SITUATION INSTEAD OF LOOKING AT THE SITUATION, WHY DO REPORTERS CONSTANTLY HOUND SOMEONE WHO IS A RETIRED PASTOR, WHO ATTENDS CONFERENCES AROUND THE WORLD, WHAT IS THERE MOTIVATION?
AT THE END OF THE DAY, I KNOW REV. WRIGHT WILL NEVER ENTER A HOLOCAUST MUSEUM AND DO WHAT THAT GUY DID LAST WEEK, AND THAT SUMS UP THE ENTIRE REV. WRIGHT SITUATION, YOU MAY NOT LIKE HIM, BUT HE WILL NEVER HURT YOU PHYSICALLY!
HE APOLOGIZED, NOW YOU MOVE ON!

HEY FALLON DID SEAN HANNITY PREP YOU FOR YOUR ONE SENTENCE OF FAME!
THE ELECTION IS OVER, STOP CRYING A RIVER AND GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE!
THE PRESIDENT LISTENED FOR TWENTY YEARS AND BECAME THE PRESIDENT!
THAT WAS SOME MIGHTY GOOD PREACHING GOING ON!
STOP GRASPING AT STRAWS, AND STOP LISTENING TO FOX NEWS!
THE ELECTION IS OVER, AND THE RIGHT MAN WON!

you are perfectly right, just because obama is mixed and more so on the black side dont make him black...why dont obama fight for blacks, hes al about trying to please the white mans agenda...i'm still stuck on how to get freedom forreal..mr. wright don't give in you was right it will all come out in the great wash.we made a mistake voting obama in...world peace is good but reality is america don't like what black people stand for...watch the screens, they only do enough to keep the so called rich blacks happy what about the real black that really break our backs?

This is the kind of hate and ignorance that afro-centrist literature and black liberation theology breeds. There are too many books out there that challenge the authenticity of Palestinian and European jews without any legitimate research. These crazy radical African American reverands need to be challenged by the edcuated historians to prove their moronic claims of being the true children of Isaac Abraham and Jacob. Why? Because they will continue to undermine the importance of Israel in American Christianity by labeling them as violators of human rights. This m***f*** idiot calls the killing of Palestinian Arabs ethnic cleansing. If he or anyone like him had a brain or correct information, they'd know that the killing of women and children is a message from Israel that they will not hold back when Muslim radicals use their women and children as human shields. Numerous times missiles have been launched at 7:45 in the morning when Israeli kids go to school. It is the muslims that are trying to ethnically cleanse. Why does the world refuse to understand that the entire Muslim world will not refrain from killing everyone (including innoscent people) until their religion is the dominating world religion? Wake up people? Wake up Jeremiah Wright!

I love Reverend Jerimiah Wright.

If your minister doesn't tell you what you want to hear, find a new minister. After all, we are God's chosen people and he is there to serve us...certainly not for us to serve him.

The people of America are too sick with the diseases of gluttony and arrogance to hear the truth.

If Jesus Christ were alive today we would crucify him again.

Bow down before the golden calf of American Imperialism...it is the TRUE path to salvation!

At Philadelphia, March 18, 2008, Candidate Obama said that, on the Middle East, Rev. Wright expressed the view that saw the conflict "rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies [cq]
like Israel, instead of emanating from the...hateful ideologies of radical Islam."

Seems that Rev. Wright has not changed his view of Israel -- just that he is more open about his view of Jews.

I do wonder, though, if President Obama would still see "radical Islam" as the root of the Middle East conflict
