DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 2009

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing with the Vice President, the Economic Daily Briefing, and meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks on the need to adhere to the basic principle that new tax or entitlement policies should be paid for - often called PAYGO -- which will require the government to budget the same way any responsible family does. Members of Congress, including members of the Blue Dog Coalition, will attend the event in the East Room. This event is open press.

Later, the President will meet with Democratic members of the House Ways and Means Committee in the State Dining Room. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. This meeting is closed press.

Also tomorrow, the Vice President will host representatives from national law enforcement groups, during which time they will announce their support for the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the United States Supreme Court. The Vice President, New York County District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, President of the Police Executive Research Forum and Miami Chief of Police John Timoney, and President of National District Attorneys Association Joseph Cassilly will deliver remarks. Representatives of other law enforcement groups will also attend the event at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. This event is pooled press.
