DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 2009
In the morning, the President will receive the Economic Daily Briefing, the Presidential Daily Briefing, and meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
In the afternoon, the President will meet with Senate Democrats in the State Dining Room to discuss the urgent need to get rising health care costs under control as part of the health reform effort. There will be a pool spray at the bottom of the meeting. Then President Obama will sign the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission Act in the Diplomatic Reception Room. This event is pooled press.
Later, the President will meet with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.
In the evening, the President will travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The departure from the South Lawn is open press.
Also tomorrow morning, Dr. Christina Romer, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, and Senator Chris Dodd will hold an event at 10:00AM EDT in Room 350 of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to introduce a new CEA report entitled: The Economic Case for Health Care Reform. OMB Director Peter Orszag, White House Office of Health Reform Director Nancy-Ann DeParle, and NEC Director Larry Summers will also attend. The participants will highlight the findings of the new report and take questions. Reporters interested in attending should contact Sarah Fenn in the Office of Health Reform at sfenn@who.eop.gov. Press should plan to arrive at the Pennsylvania Ave entrance to the EEOB by 9:45AM EDT.
