DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2009
In the morning, the President will discuss America's national security in a major speech at the National Archives. The President will discuss his broader vision for strengthening the country's security and outline how the steps his Administration is taking and plans to take going forward support those goals and principles. This event is pooled for TV and still photographers and open to pre-credentialed correspondents. The deadline to apply for credentials has passed.
After returning to the White House, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing, the Economic Daily Briefing, and meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
In the afternoon, the President will welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers to the White House. He will deliver brief remarks on the South Portico before assembling care packages for troops with team members and wounded warriors on the South Lawn. This event is open press, but all riser positions have been allocated.
Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania in the Oval Office. Press access TBD.
