WASHINGTON -- Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) is mulling jumping in the 2010 Illinois Senate race.

Note: In an earlier version I wrote Kirk was "poised" to jump in the contest. I revised to "mulling" later.)

I was absolutely floored that you voted FOR Cap and Trade. I am a stout republican and have been all of my life. I am about ready to skip elections.

Registered and loyal Republicanas that will NOT vote for Mark Kirk when he runs for governor after his vote for Cap and Trade.

I, too, disagreed with Mark Kirk's vote on cap and trade. But I also recall President Reagan's statement that "The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally - not a 20 percent traitor."

Mark Kirk is an honest and dedicated individual, which almost by itself places him far above the crowd. He is known for his independent votes, all of which are based on conviction, sincerity, and love of country.

Demands for ideological purity are ugly whether coming from Democrats or Republicans, and they are better suited for a Soviet Union or Islamist Iran, than for the United States of America.

I can't vote for someone who would support cap and trade. Anyone who supports cap and trade can see that it only benefits Democrat causes - environmentalist, unions, govt. workers Sierra club, Green peace, all while eroding our freedoms. What's next taxing my air?!! Why can't the Illinois GOP find a real republican to run for anything? I would rather see a democrat ruin our country. No thanks Mr. Kirk.
