Michelle Obama to host White House "Take Your Child to Work Day" Thursday.

Below, release from the White House....

Thursday, April 23, 2009: The First Lady will welcome children of Executive Office employees at the White House's annual Take Your Child to Work Day. Mrs. Obama will host this event in the East Room where she will give brief remarks and take questions from the audience. This morning event will be pooled press.

In the afternoon, Mrs. Obama will continue her outreach to federal workers to thank them for their service by visiting Office of Personnel Management employees. This afternoon event will also be pooled press.

It's great that these kids will grow up in security and comfort, but that's not the case for millions of kids in developing countries. Obama should shift to a focus on soft power in terms of foreign policy and increase the foreign aid budget to help unlucky kids out.
The Borgen Project has good info on the estimated cost of ending global poverty:

$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.

$550 billion: U.S. Defense budget.

I aploud the Obamas. This family has given america a new, clean, honest face. I now have a hope for the world I never did have in the past.

Thank you

I think that it is great that our President and First Lady makes the White House and themselves assessable to the American public. They really give off the persona that this is our country. I think they do a very good job in relaying to the public that they are conscious that their honorable stay in the White House is to serve a duty to their country. I always get the sense that they are on the job, being mindful of their sense of duty to America's people, themselves and their families. It's wonderful to be under the leadership of persons who take into consideration the thoughts and impressions of others into their daily conduct.
