Michelle Obama taps Chicago's Johnny Wright as her White House hair dresser

WASHINGTON--First Lady Michelle Obama tapped Johnny Wright to be her exclusive hair dresser, the Washington Post reports Thursday in a Style section front headlined "He Dresses Michelle's Tresses."

The subhead: "Chicagoan shapes First Lady's hair--and keeps the details to himself."

Wright grew up on Edbrooke Ave. on the South Side and a few years ago moved to Los Angeles. He coifed Mrs. Obama during the campaign and moved to Washington a few weeks ago.

I asked the East Wing how Johnny Wright gets paid and Catherine McCormick-Lelyveld said "it's a personal expense."

Of course, she would want to give this job to someone who does her hair well and it is certainly a feather in his cap. His popularity will now zoom out of sight.

Johnny's is already a popular hair dresser. His claim to fame came as Lisa Raye's (actress) hair dresser. He also was the hair dresser for Tamran Hall (Fox News- now on MSNBC). He has done Nia Long, Anita Baker and several other before the first lady. He is a household buzz here in Chicago. She knew who to pick, now her popularity will zoo out of site because he was popular already with the stars before her.
