The scoop from Washington

First Lady Michelle Obama's military base visit press strategy.

WASHINGTON--First Lady Michelle Obama is using her first official trip outside of Washington as a backdrop for her, as ABC News puts it, "first network television interview" since becoming first lady. On Thursday, Mrs. Obama travels to North Carolina to visit military families at Fort Bragg, taking to its highest level yet a major agenda item, helping the kin of our nations' soldiers.

Since taking over the East Wing, Mrs. Obama has given interviews to magazines--the latest Oprah Winfrey's "O" and People, but folks slice and dice into categories when claiming firsts.

The interview with Robin Roberts will be well used with ABC News offering an attractive package: the interview on Roberts' show, "Good Morning America" and clips on "World News with Charles Gibson" and "Nightline."

I wonder if she'll ask the soldiers if they're finally "proud to be an American" now that her hubby's been elected. I'm also curious if the racial makeup of the families and soldiers interviewed will be skewed in any way.

What a hateful thing to say! the first lady MICHELLE OBAMA is going to visit hurting AMERICAN'S, and you sit back and criticize her labor, the question is are you proud of your country! what are you doing to make people's live's more comfortable in AMERICA? and the answer is NOTHING, you could care less about AMERICA, and of course you are a LIMBAUGH fan! you people do nothing but, spew out hatred!

mattie, scott might be hateful, but you are too with your judgemental comment about "rush limbaugh" fans. your divisive attitude is not what will heal this country. the truth isForbus you will see lots of african americans because the military has a large minority population but i think forbus' comment about her "pride in america" are kind of deserved. many military families who represent our country every day regardless of who is president were very hurt by that.

Why don't you ask John McCain if he is finally glad to be American still after all the red carpet days that he lived in this country? He had lived with the silver spoon in his mouth and acted like a brat all of his days until his time as a POW in which he said that he learned that he loved America. But hey, I'm proud to be American because I have finally learned that people like you no longer exist in large numbers which gives me hope that soon, you will be a just a part of a horrible era in American History.

Get your facts stright buddy you are making yourself look really ignorant. If you bothered to learn and understand any real American history instead of the rhetoric you clearly listen to, you would have understood what she meant. But again, you like so many like you, disappoint. Thankfully you are no longer the majority.
