Is there some pressing need for the President to constantly FLY to venues, in order to make yet another speech, and to pose for photo-ops?
We have all been cautioned that the "road, ahead" is a rough one...and that we must all make "sacrifices". However, I cannot help but tally-up the many hundreds-of-thousands it costs our already strained budgetary reserves to have the President cruise-around in Air Force One, several times a week! Wouldn't such funds be better spent aiding distressed Americans, who are on the verge of losing everything???
I admire him, and like his approach to his new job. In many ways, he is a solid role-model. However, "personal restraint" and "modesty" do not seem to be integral parts of his makeup...especially when our economy is in terrible condition, and the nation needs a leader who shoulders its burden with the rest of us.
I think the travel is associated with trying to explain the path forward and the reasons behind the actions to the American public.
The reality of politics is that if you don't take the lead in defining your position, your opposition will do it for you.
By traveling out of Washington to meet and address ordinary citizens, the President is breaking out of the cocoon that surrounds all Presidents.
THE MAN IS DOING HIS JOB, HE ISN'T GOING TO SIT
IN D.C. AND WATCH THE COUNTRY GO TO BLANK, HE IS
COMING TO US, AND CALMING OUR FEARS, HE IS DOING
A GREAT JOB, AND I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO WATCH
HIM DO WHAT THE OTHER MAN SHOULD HAVE DONE,
INSTEAD HE SPENT MORE TIME AT THE RANCH, AND THE
COUNTRY WENT TO BLANK IN 8 YEARS TIME!
IT'S NOT COSTING YOU ANYTHING IF THE JOB IS
GETTING DONE!
WE ARE ALMOST IN A DEPRESSION AND YOU ARE WORRYING
ABOUT HOW MUCH TIME HE SPENDS WITH US, PLEASE!
HE IS SETTING THE BAR VERY HIGH FOR ALL FUTURE
PRESIDENTS OF AMERICA, GET OFF YOUR BLANKS AND
GET THE JOB DONE OR DON'T SEEK THE OFFICE!
THE MAN IS THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB, MCCAIN
COULDN'T KEEP US HIS KIND OF PACE, AND YOU KNOW
IT!
