Obama's Valentine's Day dinner at Table Fifty-Two restaurant in Chicago

President Obama and First Lady Michelle are celebrating Valentines Day Saturday night in Chicago at the Table Fifty-Two restaurant at 52 W. Elm St. The co-owner and executive chef of the restaurant is Art Smith, the one time personal chef for Oprah Winfrey.

The Obama family flew from Washington to O'Hare Friday night on Air Force One for the Presidents Day weekend. The Obamas' I take it want themselves and their daughters to stay connected, grounded and rooted in Chicago even as they get to know Washington in their new roles.

On Saturday morning Obama worked out at the gym at Regents Park in Hyde Park.

The Air Force One traveling party also included First Grandmother Marion Robinson, friend Valerie Jarrett, White House Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison and Heather Higginbottom, Deputy Director of the Domestic Policy Council.

Are the Obamas auditioning a new chef for the White House, possibly?

How cool is that! This is proof the first family is as grounded as they appear to be. They don't want to lose sight of their roots. Wonderful, just wonderful.

Between President Barack & First Lady Michelle, they are both hugely intelligent enough to handle their new jobs.
1. NUTRITION: What I'd like is for them to consider adding a couple YOGA sessions for their family per week. Maybe with the Biden family.
Also the President has a very tough job. So that means his Nutrition has to be up to mark.[The Inauguration Menu wasn't, never mind it was historic]
He has to be given the FOODS, VEGETABLES, NUTS, GRAINS, BEANS & FRUIT that will give him the natural energy he needs to maintain himself.
Some days he needs to be fed a Vegan diet, alot of great soups, and use Cornmeal instead of traditional Flours.LOTS of fresh Salads.

2. MUSIC: I'd also like to see the Obamas start a CONCERT SERIES at the site of his Inauguration. This should be free to the population, or at least a nominal fee, or US$5/entrance. Could be Quarterly. Should feature top US acts, but also top caliber international acts. This will aid in the internationalisation of the Obama Presidency.
From my country Trinidad & Tobago for eg. we could send a top steelband (players on steel drums), David Rudder, Ms. Ella Andell, or a Rapso group like 3-Canal.

3. INTERNATIONAL FILMS: Americans in general will hopefully become more open to other cultures with the Obamas in office. So, the Washington Embassies can start sourcing classic films from their countries, to be shown on national TV.
Here in the Caribbean we get so much American TV & films. But we also get from India, Europe & Asia. Every MONTH a different country can be featured.

Finally, Pres Obama is doing a great job so far.
He is really showing up the poor leaders on the world stage, by being so pro-active, youthful, empathetic, but also very firm.

My wife and I were of the lucky patrons at Table 52 on Valentine's Day. I say "lucky" because we were on a wait list for three weeks before getting one of those precious tables. We were surprised to find the street blocked off when we arrived for our nine o'clock reservation and even more surprised when we learned why.

There was an air of excitement in the dining room. The President and Mrs. Obama were dining in the upper room. When they came down and passed through to the front door, the room burst into applause. The Obamas stopped briefly to smile and wave.

Our meal was excellent. Art Smith greeted his guests later to top off a perfect evening.

Where is my free house?
Where is my swanky vacations?

Oh, wait, Obama is taking more and more of our money so that he can blow it all on himself.
$170million for inaguration.
$68,000 an hour that he uses Air Force One.
Free Houses For Deadbeats.

If that gets you applause in Chicago I got a buddy named Bernie Maddoff that you people would love.

We'll just eat the cake that Michelle brought home in her attrociously tacky doggie bag.

Who needs Stimulus? We Need Vacation!

I'm glad the Obamas had a nice dinner. I am sure that my tax dollars some how paid for all or part of the trip and entourage.

My husband and I couldn't spend the money on a restaurant dinner this year. Instead, we ate baked ziti and salad at home.

They haven't even been in Washington a month. What happened to putting the Washington restaurants on the map? What a waste of taxpayer dollars and energy(where are all the global warming freaks?). Oops, I forgot, nothing the Obamas do is wrong!

Barack is showing he is truly a politician, through and through. No "change" here folks, Washington politics as usual, Chicago flavor.

Yep, and I got caught on the Tarmak at Ohare waiting for him! What a waste... His arrogance has gambled his whole Presidency on the "Stimulus". I quess he isn't as smart as everyone thought he was....since he signed into law a sure bet on him being a 4 year President. How stupid is it to pay back every Democratic special interest group instead of signing a true Stimulus Package. He seems to be a know at all when it comes to the History of Lincoln. Maybe he should have studied the Tax breaks of Kennedy and Reagan that got this country back on track. Arrogance at its best!

YOU PROBABLY DON'T PAY ANY TAXES!
DON'T HATE THE PLAYER, HATE THE GAME!
YOU DIDN'T CRY WHEN THE OTHER GUY WAS HELD UP AT
THE RANCH EVERY WEEKEND!
HEY WE HAVE A WORKING PRESIDENT, BE HAPPY!
THEY HAVE BEEN OUT IN D.C., IT WAS THE FIRST TIME
THEY HAVE BEEN HOME, DON'T FORGET HE WAS IN PEORIA
AND SPRINGFIELD, RIGHT BEFORE HE CAME TO SWEET
HOME CHICAGO!
THE MAN HAS BEEN TO FLORIDA, ARIZONA, COLORADO,
ILLINOIS, HE HAS TAKEN VERY MEANINGFUL TRIPS,
HE IS CALMING THE FEARS OF AMERICANS EVERYWHERE!

I thought the campaign was over. Arrogant and thoughtless, CEO's shouldn't fly but out president who is flitting around the country acting like royalty. Oh and Biden flys in on Air force II, how about jetpooling. Do you know how much it costs municipalities when the president comes into town. How about sitting down at your desk and get some real work done.

Players can help change the game. We got change alright, fliting around the country trying to convince us that growing government is going to get the economy going in the right direction.

YOU GUYS NEED TO GROW UP, NOW WE HAVE A REAL
PRESIDENT, AND TODAY HE IS IN CANADA, WE HAVE A
PERSON WHO IS IN TIP TOP SHAPE, HE IS HELPING
AMERICA, SAVING HOMES, SAVING JOBS, TALKING WITH
WORLD LEADERS, AND YOU GUYS STILL THINK THE OTHER
GUY WHO SAT AT THE RANCH EVERY WEEKEND IS THE
PRESIDENT, NEW MAN ON POST, DEAL WITH IT, AND
RELAX!
CHENEY AND BUSH AREN'T IN CHARGE ANYMORE, THANK
GOD!

Mr Phil Smith JR.
Thank You, I could not have said it better myself. So many people are becoming so judgemental when it comes to our new President. I don't listen to all those negative comments and I am very proud of President Obama.

People screeching about the cost of flying on Air Force One are probably the same lunkheads who think Acorn is getting billions in stimulus money. Here are some facts. George Bush receives a $196,000 annual pension, indexed to inflation. He's living in an eight million dollar home in Texas, protected by Secret Service at our expense. And he was a wealthy man when he became President. He doesn't need my tax dollars. But he's taking them. And if you fools think Obama charged the government for his dinner, you must think we elected Sarah Palin. She's the one who charges the taxpayers when she takes a phone call at home. Obama undoubtedly paid for his dinner from his government salary - got a problem with that? These ridiculous criticisms demonstrate that conservatives are dead in the water, have no useful ideas and can only snipe and whine.

I was really hoping Obama would make a better example of Green living in the White House. I understand the balance of normalcy, but a fuel inefficient Boeing 747, support C-5 cargo aircraft a 20-50 vehicle motorcade. It really doesn't send the Green message that we were all hoping for.

Especially since Obama has access to world class chefs at the White House, and dozens of first rate restaurants in the Washington DC area.

I'm just kinda saddened, I expected a lot more from him.

President Obama seems extraordinarily competent, energetic, thoughtful and well spoken. He is confronting the worst economic crisis in over fifty years - and economic crises are incomparably more difficult to deal with than foreign political crises. So far, he has demonstrated real competence. I only wish we had a head of government/state with his qualities here in Britain.

It is a shame how this country is filled with hate and I don’t mean the player hate, I mean the real hatred that exist in the United States. Racism is alive and will not die until the people who are alive today, grandchildren and their great children die off. We are a long way from truly calling our selves the “United” States of America.

I am glad that the Obamas are obviously such good parents and a close family. But in such a scary financial time, and a time that he is asking others to sacrifice, it is embarrassing that he would be so flamboyant with the use of tax dollars to fly Air Force One for this purpose. Let's not forget he is raising taxes for so many families who will now have to cancel vacations with their families to pay them. I supported him getting into office. But his actions are more and more selfish and clearly not working. THE ECONOMY HERE AND AROUND THE WORLD DOES NOT TRUST HIM!! He is scaring me as he continues to let his ego, and his rush to spend hard working tax payer's money without regard of consequences. If he keeps this up he will ruin our country! I just wish people would open their eyes and stop being blindly star struck. He is in way over his head, but obviously enjoying the ride. If he was the true man of the people, like he said during the campaign, he would walk the walk that he is asking of others.

how are you

Congratulations to you Mr. President and your beautiful family. Being President is such an awesome and difficult job because you cannot do it alone. That's why it is imperative for all of us Americans to do our share to support and struggle with the issues we face daily. We, middleclass families are really feeling the impact of this sagging economy. However, we must be patient and prayful in times like these.

God Bless you and America.

Why are you hating on them for spending some time together on Valentines Day! you hater at least he is spending it with his OWN wife unlike past presidents. Eat, Drink and ENJOY the OBAMAS!

It is apparent that the ones still taking up for Obama have not done their homework. Michelle said we would all have to give up a piece of the pie. Apparently she even took hers home in a doggy bag. All of this we have just read about plus $500 dinner from room service on a trip to Hawaii. Then their vacation to Hawaii in a four housand dollar a night house and a house near by for their friends. Millions that Pelosi arranged for her closest friends and their families to go to Copenhagen when there was no need for them to be there. $400,000 a night to rent a home in Cape Cod. And then the lavish party for the Mexican Moocher Calderone. This wasn't like a party for a visiting dignitary. Calderone is in Washington as often as the Pres. A party that had butterflies to promote immigration. And a performance by Beyonce. This is like a little kid stealing money from his Mother's purse and taking all his friends to the ice cream shop. This in your face opulent spending is truly insulting to the people who have lost their jobs and are losing their homes. And anyone who thinks that obama paid for it out of his salary as one person suggested, is not very good at simple math. His salary wouldn't get Air Force One out of the hangar.
