ILGOP Launches Online Petition for Special Election on FriendsofBlago.com

Republicans in the General Assembly are demanding action

Quinn, Madigan, Cullerton and other elected officials must take a position today

CHICAGO - As part of its continuing grassroots campaign, the Illinois Republican Party today unveiled an online petition calling for a special election. The petition is being sent to hundreds of thousands of email addresses in Illinois.

"This petition will allow the voters from all of Illinois' 102 counties to tell their elected officials they are demanding a vote of the people," said Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna. "The people of Illinois deserve a greater voice in their government and more accountability from their elected officials - this petition will send that message to lawmakers in Springfield."

"Governor Quinn, Speaker Madigan, President Cullerton and other elected officials must recommit to a special election today," McKenna added.

This new online petition is the latest part of the Illinois Republican Party's ongoing grassroots campaign to bring change and accountability to Illinois.

The online petition also features an "Illinois Embarassment Timeline" with quotes the latest news in the ongoing Blagojevich saga. It also includes a copy of today's Chicago Tribune editorial in favor of a special election.

Mr. Roland Liar, you have protested with strong exhortation that "I'm Roland Burris! You know me!"

It is quite apparent Illinois voters don't!

I know nothing of this farcical display of inept lies that keep pouring from your mouth each and every time you open it.

I don't know you!! You pompous liar!

And here I was thinking Jesse Jr. was not fit for the job! Sorry Congressman Jesse Jr.

Mr. Roland Liar, you bumbling idiot, why didn't you just stay at home and watch old re-runs on ME-TV?!....OOPS, you were and thought the Illinois vacant senate seat was for you ONLY!.

Mr. Liar, all together now! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME!

And Hell No you don't represent Illinios, we didn't vote for you knucklehead!

Now look at how your bumbling ways has now frighten you from speaking to the media. YOU GAVE THE MEDIA THE AMMUNITION TO SHOOT YOU IN THE A$$!!

How the hell you going to represent Illinois if you don't speak with the media idiot?

It's "Hard Out Here Being A Liar", isn't it Mr. Sparse the Truth to Fit It on a Tombstone?

Bravo! May sunny days attend their efforts, and concerned citizens defend the integrity of Illinois' representation in the Senate...

The latest lame distraction by the IL GOP's old players to distract from their own dishonesty and corruption.

What about Tom Cross threatening retaliation on the floor of the House on Wednesday in response to the Dems' suggestion that allegations of a mistress hiring scheme (on the taxpayers' dime) be referred to law enforcement?

Is that appropriate conduct for a public official? Isn't threatening someone to try and prevent reporting of a possible crime illegal in and of itself?

Unfortunately, although a special election would end this particular scandal, it would leave the door wide open for similar ones in the future. There is only one way to end them once and for all, and that is through a constitutional amendment that denies Governors the right to make these temporary appointments in the first place.

Fortunately, Senator Feingold and Congressman Dreier have submitted a bipartisan Amendment that does just that. If anyone would like to encourage other members of Congress to support their legislation, please also sign the petition at www.amendment28.org. They face an uphill battle in trying to get this Amendment passed, and could sure use some help.
