Obamas throw "late night" gathering after balls in the White House. Oprah, Mayor Daley, among those present

WASHINGTON--Not on any schedule, the Obamas hosted an exclusive late night gathering at the White House after coming home from dancing at ten balls, I'm told.

The fete was intended for very close Obama friends and family. The event was scheduled between midnight and 2:30 a.m. and invitees were told the Obamas' may not show. But they did. Michelle, cut out early; Obama stayed. There was a champagne toast.

Among those present:

Oprah Winfrey
Valerie Jarrett
David Axelrod
Mayor Daley
Craig Robinson
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.)
Rep. Melissa Bean (D-Ill.)
Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.)
Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.)
Rep. Jerry Costello (D-Ill.)
Rep. Artur Davis (D-Alabama)

the Obamas(apostrophe)?!?!? was that you or your editor? JEEEeez, man.

I AM SO HAPPY THAT OPRAH AND ALL THE OBAMA'S FRIENDS CAME TO BE WITH THEM THEY ALL WORKED HARD . THEY MADE THE WHITE HOUSE FUN AGAIN FULL OF LIFE . HOW WONDERFUL LOVE OUR NEW PRESIDENT

How wonderful that President Obama, the new Commander in Chief, could make time to see Oprah but could not attend the Medal of Honor ball sponsored by the American Legion. He is the first President in 56 years who did not. I don't think he even knows that most of these medals are awarded posthumously. He disgusts me. Thank God I am not serving in the military. I would be very conflicted about this man.

Sharon,

How you disgust me with your vile and hateful thoughts regarding the Commander-in-Chief. Did you not see the events where President Obama honored all branches of the military on stage and off by speaking with them, and, by talking about being forever thankful to the military for their service?

I knew someone would be unhappy, however, everyone knows that the President does NOT go to all Balls because a lot of them are "unofficial".

This man!! is our president of the United states
and if you are living in this united states than u might as well not be disgusted Let that hate go most of us in the world are happy for the first
time we all are togeather Thanks to
this President We are very happy and hope ful
as a country!!! So you are not in on our happiness sorry for you i guess you will be unhappy for 4 years.

I love places like this ! A place where all the real truth about the hatred in this country that still is here !!!!!

Anybody ELSE !!!

wow, maybe they should have invited some of those low class workers in the blue, purple and silver tickets holder section who stood in line for hours only to be left out in the cold.
Thanks Barack, maybe Oprah can help ya there.
I worked really hard and got the workers ticket to stand while ol fat oprah who could have used the exercise, got to sit up front with jayzee and all the fat cats.
so much for the grassroots folks.

Thanks Dale. Despite all our warm and fuzzy feelings about Obama, we must remember that there are still hateful people out there, people who could shove sticks into the spokes of Obama's forward movement. Let us keep our cool and treat them in the manner we would like to be treated.

Gee Karen@1:40PM January 26th, I really appreciate all of the work you did to get tickets for the "low class workers." However, when you resort to unecessary name calling you lose all respect and credibility. Do you honestly believe that it was the President's fault (or Oprah's for that matter) that said "low class workers" were left out in the cold? Your attitude is exactly what we don't need at this time. Grow up........

President Obama - What a man, what a speech that was, what a day not just for America but for the world and I am glad I was in a small corner of the world to applaud.

Mr. power to you Mr. Obama
Karen
