As AKPD Founder Axelrod Heads to White House,
Top Obama Aide Joins Kupper, Plouffe, Del Cecato

(CHICAGO) AKPD Message and Media, the political consulting firm founded by
Obama campaign senior strategist David Axelrod, today announced that top
Democratic strategist and senior Obama aide Larry Grisolano will be joining
the company as managing partner.

Grisolano most recently served as Director of Paid Media and Opinion
Research for Obama for America and Obama-Biden 2008. He will be joining
AKPD partners John Kupper and John Del Cecato. Obama campaign manager David
Plouffe, who first partnered with Axelrod nine years ago, will continue to
serve as AKPD¹s senior advisor. AKPD founder, David Axelrod, has announced
that he will be leaving the firm to serve as Senior Advisor to
President-elect Barack Obama when he takes office next week.

³It¹s really difficult for me to leave a company that¹s been such a huge
part of my life, but I enter my new post with enormous pride and confidence
in the team that¹s taking over,² Axelrod said. ³I feel privileged to be
able to hand-pick my successors, and I take comfort in knowing AKPD will be
led by the very best political minds anywhere in this country.²

During the presidential campaign, Grisolano supervised and directed a
sophisticated opinion research program that provided the strategic roadmap
for the campaign, and managed the paid advertising effort that delivered the
campaign message through television, radio, Internet, direct mail, and other
print advertising. He brings 25 years of political experience to AKPD,
offering additional strategic and creative leadership to the team. For the
past 16 years, he has been a partner in The Strategy Group, a direct mail
firm. He will leave his post there, but continue to provide advice to the

Kupper, who served as a message and advertising consultant in both Obama¹s
2004 U.S. Senate and 2008 presidential campaigns, has been with Axelrod
since 1988, helping him build a small, regional consulting business into one
of the pre-eminent political media firms in the nation.

Plouffe, whom Obama credited with building the ³best political campaign, I
think, in the history of the United States of America,² has been a strategic
mastermind at AKPD since 2000.

Del Cecato, who wrote, directed, and produced many of Obama¹s national
television ads last year, has been at the center of AKPD¹s communications
strategy, message development, and advertising production since 2001.

The company will continue to be headquartered in Chicago, continuing the
Axelrod tradition of offering candidates and issue campaigns at the local,
state, and federal levels a unique, outside-the-beltway approach to
messaging and communications strategy. AKPD will continue to maintain
satellite offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, as well.
