depends. If Quinn become Gov. I dont' see why he can't do it. If they do special election the republicans will try for it.
There is one thing I don't understand. obama announced on thursday he was conducting an internal investigation of his team and by Friday the press was whining that it was taking too long and he needed to get it out now.
One day?
and what about the weekend.
Doesn't the PE have alot of meetings and stuff to do? And what if there are things they turn up that has to be cleared with Fitz so as not to hurt his investigation?
I am guessing the press is just too bored and wants something to talk about to death so, they are acting like impatient children.
Appointment. Let the people of Illinois correct Pat Quinn's pick in 2010 and run the state into further bankruptcy to prove a moral or political point. I know journalists want an election since campaigns are the low hanging fruit of reporting...
As to whole "disabled" stuff... shouldn't Lisa Madigan be going after custody of Blago's grade school-aged daughters since if he can't be governor, how can be a father?
I concur with the points given by Alexi Giannoulias, Illinois State Treasurer. Illinois simply can't pay for an election and it would ruin the state's credit rating adding the interest rate money is loaned to the state and further delay payments to anything from snow plows to hospices.
Favoring this special election really show where public officials priorities lay. Let's have 4 months of ACTUAL debate and legislation on ethic reform rather 4 months of CAMPAIGN RHETORIC on it.

THE GROUND, THEY WANT THAT SEAT, BY ANY MEANS
NECESSARY!
THEY WON'T GET IT, BUT 2010 WILL BE ONE UGLY
ELECTION!
Use economic stimulus money to fund the special election.Campaign workers will have to be hired.Ads will have to be bought.And it will sell a lot more newspapers.
WE DON'T NEED A SPECIAL ELECTION!
IT COST TO MUCH, AND BESIDES ONLY CERTAIN PEOPLE
WILL GO TO THE POLLS ANYWAY!
A BIG WASTE OF MONEY AND DON'T EVER FORGET THAT
IT WILL BE, THE GOP WANT THIS SEAT!
THEY ARE RUNNING THOSE KARL ROVE COMMERCIALS AS
IF THE NATIONAL ELECTION WAS STILL GOING ON!
THE GOV MESSED UP, SO HE MUST GO, A SPECIAL
ELECTION IS NOT NEEDED!
