SCHAKOWSKY CALLS ON GOVERNOR BLAGOJEVICH TO RESIGN

Washington, D.C.--U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) released the following statement in response to news that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was arrested and indicted today for abusing his office for financial and personal gain.

"This is a sad day for the people of Illinois. The charges against Governor Blagojevich are very serious and damaging. It is in the best interest of the State of Illinois that Governor Blagojevich resign from office immediately. If he does not resign, the state legislature should reconvene for a special session immediately and begin impeachment proceedings against Governor Blagojevich. I have already called the Illinois Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan, and Illinois State Senate President, Emil Jones, to ask them to come back into session to begin impeachment proceedings."

"Resign or be impeached."

May I suggest a third possibility: "Resign, be impeached or hanged."

does the congresswoman know anything about seperation of powers? i think there's more than a few of us who just can't wait to connect the dots. gosh, she doth protest both loudly and quickly. hum?

She should be the last to talk, considering her husband's felony conviction.

Schakowsky, and Durbin and Obama, too, are wrong about it being a sad day for the people of Illinois. Every day we endure the corruption of our elected officials is a sad day. This is a JOYOUS day for the people of Illinois. It is also an all too rare day that one of them (and his chief of staff) is indicted. Keep at 'em, Fitz.

Oh! Kristie! YOU said it! I DO hope Fitz just keeps on going! We just KNOW there's SO much more here. I lived in Chicago for 54 years. Loved the city...hated the dirty politics. Shame on ALL of them. GET em'!

It's about time our dear governor got
his!! Now we have to work on city hall.
Todd Stroger & our dear mayor Daley
who think that they are above the law!!
Guess what guys-- big brother is watching!
I think that the taxpayers are sick & tired
of dirty politicians. I also think that
vacant positions in politics should
be decided by vote by taxpayers. After
all the taxpayers are paying their
salaries!!! Heaven knows that all of us
pay enough taxes, so why shouldn't
we have our say. Thanks for giving
me this chance to say what I trully
feel.

Sincerely,
Lee

Monday's P.M. Press Conference Where is It?

"Should the state members of the Electoral College cast their votes for Mr. Obama in the face of such overwhelming evidence, and without verification of Mr. Obama's eligibility, they would be committing treason to the Constitution," said Schulz.

STROGER AND DALEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG!
THE GOV IS THE ONE WHO MESSED UP!
