Presidential Inaugural Committee Invites Punahou School Marching Band and JROTC Marching Unit to Perform in 56th Inaugural Parade
Talent From Across America To March In Parade From Capitol To White House

WASHINGTON - Today, in keeping with its commitment to hold inaugural events that celebrate our common values and reflects the diversity and history of our great nation, President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden's Inaugural Committee officially extended an offer to the Punahou School Marching Band and JROTC Marching Unit to march in the 56th Inaugural Parade.

Members of the Punahou School Marching Band and JROTC Marching Unit will join representatives from across the country and our Armed Forces in the historic parade down Pennsylvania Avenue following President-elect Obama's swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the Capitol.
"I am honored to invite these talented groups and individuals to participate in the Inaugural Parade," said President-elect Obama. "These organizations embody the best of our nation's history, diversity and commitment to service. Vice President-elect Biden and I are proud to have them join us in the parade."
President-elect Obama attended Punahou School from 1971 to 1979. The Punahou School JROTC program is the oldest JROTC program in the State of Hawaii, earning Honor Unit or Honor Unit with Distinction status for 56 years.
Organizations wishing to participate in the parade submitted an application to the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee (AFIC), which then assisted the Presidential Inaugural Committee in reviewing all of the groups' applications. All told, 1,382 organizations applied to participate, setting a new standard for interest in marching in the parade.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee was assisted in its selection process by a group of experienced military musicians, who utilized their expertise to help assess the presentation skills of marching bands, musical acts and drill teams.

That's cool.
Doonesbury's designation of Obama as the 'blue-jeaned listening lap' is too.

But I'm getting pretty dismayed at the 'team of rivals' he's assembling. It's all center vs. right.
WHERE'S KUCINICH OR ANY LEFTIES?

And there apparently is no plan on ending this damned war, either.

THIS IS A GOOD THING, WITH ALL THE CRACKPOTS
TALKING ABOUT HE ISN'T A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED
STATES, HIS BIRTH STATE SHOULD HAVE A BAND IN
THE PARADE!
I GUESS ALL THOSE WORKERS WHO ARE CONSTRUCTING
WHERE HE WILL BE SWORN IN, DON'T AGREE THAT HE
ISN'T THE 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!
5 TO 6 MILLION EXPECTED IN D.C. FOR THIS HISTORY
MAKING EVENT!

This article states:

"The Presidential Inaugural Committee was assisted in its selection process by a group of experienced military musicians, who utilized their expertise to help assess the presentation skills of marching bands, musical acts and drill teams."

Presentation skills?

Yet the band chosen to attend from Cobb County, Georgia is the South Cobb High School Marching Band, a band that is far surpassed in talent and presentation by other bands in Cobb County and elsewhere in Georgia.

When South Cobb competed in the Bands of America Super Regional competition in the Georgia Dome in October, the band placed 32nd (out of 34 entries), while a number of Cobb County bands broke into the Top 10. Kennesaw Mountain High School Marching Band, an outstanding program in Cobb County, took 1st place.

So what's the difference between Kennesaw Mountain and South Cobb? South Cobb is a primarily black school.

Things that make you go "hmmmmmmmmmmm"

I believe that South Cobb Being Primarily Black Has Anything To Do With Us Being Choosen. When South Cobb Turned In Their Application, They Did Not State The Race Of Their School, Because There Was No Reason To.
South Cobb High Schoo Band was chosen, because of its talent, love into its application, and because obvioulsy the commitee like what they saw.
The placement in Bands Of America Does Not Matter, because the Band will be marching in a parade and not on a field.

Things that make you go "oh i never thought of that..."

I HEARD THE BAND THEY CHOOSE I BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE WAY BETTER BANDS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CHOOSEN SUCH AS:
REDAN HIGH SCHOOL
STEPHENSON HIGH SCHOOL
MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. HIGH SCHOOL
BUT OUT OF ALL THE SCHOOL YALL CHOOSE THEM IM SHOOKED BECAUSE ALL THE THREE BANDS WOULD DOMINATE AND CRUSH SOUTH COBB ARE ANY OTHER CONTENDERS AND IF YOU DONT THINK SO CHECK OUT YOUTUBE BUT I KNOW THE BANDS NEED TO BE GOOD MUSICLY TO SO LAST TIME I CHECKED STEPHENSON HAS GOTTEN ALL SUPERIORS FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND MLK JR JUST GOT ALL SUPERIORS IN THIER DEKALB COMPITIONS TO AND THEIR ARE PLENTY OF MORE REASON'S WHY BUT NO THEY WANT TO CHOOSE COBB I WONDER WHY???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
