Obama says "extremely disappointing" Blagojevich went ahead with Senate pick

Below is a statement from President-elect Obama:

"Roland Burris is a good man and a fine public servant, but the Senate Democrats made it clear weeks ago that they cannot accept an appointment made by a governor who is accused of selling this very Senate seat. I agree with their decision, and it is extremely disappointing that Governor Blagojevich has chosen to ignore it. I believe the best resolution would be for the Governor to resign his office and allow a lawful and appropriate process of succession to take place. While Governor Blagojevich is entitled to his day in court, the people of Illinois are entitled to a functioning government and major decisions free of taint and controversy," said President-elect Obama.

I'd say the President-elect got whooped, along with the rest of his party. I hope that he and they fair better against the leaders of our enemies.

This is another classic example of how Obama operates (or fails to operate), and the American voters can get used to it. This is on par with voting present over 100 times in the Illinois house. Obama could have put pressure on the Illinois legislature to enact some type of legislation to block Blagojevich's appointment of anyone to the Senate. He didn't. He could have easily used his surrogates to accomplish this, but once again Barry looked the other way.

He is "disappointed," in Blago, to be sure. Maybe he should be disappointed in his own inaction (again).

Still trying to understand how Obama arrived untainted from what has been declared to be a political cesspool. Something here does not compute.

What is this paper run by a bunch of bitter republicans..Obama this and Obama that but what have America been thru within the past 8yrs..I don't blame Obama if he choses to stay hands free of some issues and Yes he has a right to his opinion.. Maybe it is because he is not white the you people are so critical. Obama hasn't even been sworn in you people are ready to put up a lynching room...YOU people need to wake up..This economy sucks and from the Bush administration Bush top dogs have quit on him WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU.. YOU people can't see past your own hatred. What have you don't for you country and community to make a difference...
