Folo to Politico's Smith item about Obama Indonesia trip

CHICAGO--Ben Smith over at Politico has an item about how President-elect Barack Obama told a donor his first international trip will be to Indonesia--a country he lived in as a youth.

Let me add this: at the end of a visit Obama made to several African nations in 2006, I interviewed him with two other reporters and he said then his next big international journey would be in 2007--and he was looking at China, India and Indonesia, ``where ironically I actually have more of a childhood than I do in Kenya.''

That trip, as we know, never happened; Obama caught up in the Democratic presidential primary, never traveled abroad in 2007.

``where ironically I actually have more of a childhood than I do in Kenya.''

So he admits he had a childhood in Kenya? Interesting. Maybe Grandmother Sarah wasn't lying when she said he was born in Kenya.

Yes, because he'll never forget this own personal memories of his Kenyan birth...

Maybe Mr. Welsh ought to listen to entire audio interview with Granny Sarah Obama in which she, using a translator since she only speak a dialect of the Luo tribal language, says through the translator that she was mistranslated and that her grandson Barry was born in the United States. Granny Sarah Obama and the translator keep making restating this despite the interviewer obviously ignoring it.

Cokie Roberts will tell his visit this month to Honolulu would be his first foreign visit...

Interesting, but one simple edit suggestion.

The hyperlink is the blog post really ought to be direct to actual Jakarta post rather then just the blog since it took me some time to actual find the Ben Smith post Lynn was referring to...
