Valerie Jarrett not interested in replacing Obama in U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON--There's been some buzz over whether Obama transition co-chair Valerie Jarrett wants to replace Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate. A source tells me that Jarrett is "not interested in a U.S. Senate seat."

Jarrett, who holds a unique position in that she is a personal friend as well as advisor to both the president-elect and wife Michelle, is headed towards a senior position in the Obama White House.

She's more valuable to Obama in the White House than in his cabinet--though as a CEO of a major Chicago real estate firm--and the former board chair of Chicago's public transit agency--she could have filled slots at HUD or DOT.

The Senate appointment will be made by Gov. Blagojevich

Please Rod, anybody but Tammy Duckworth-less. How could you even consider someone who never held office and was voted against by the public? Where is your brain ? We don't want her !! this is an important position to fill. Don't screw it up !

My money is Debbie Mell, I think she would make a great choice.

drag. fear of flying? she's clearly has 0 knowledge of white house forum and white house hours. the latter will have the lady back in chicago in a year or less. this is no bruce lindsey...and gosh he lost a wife in that tour of duty..and the wise should recall the road back to little rock being littered with clintonistas.

Jesse Jackson Jr. would be an ideal candidate. Brilliant mind who could choose a path to the governor job if he really wanted that position. I'm sure that scares every cracker this side of the Mississippi. Duckworth has been an excellant Director of Veterans Affairs for the Governor and she barely lost that race to Peter Costem. She would definitely fight for veteran benefits. This worth-less line sounds like sour grapes from a right winger. Sorry, she's no Sarah Palin. Thank, God. As Warren Oates so succinctly put it in the film classic Stripes, "Lighten up, soldier!"

o.k...i get it! she get's the dnc chair.yes? what's that thing about wanting a friend in d.c.? get a dog? well they're already getting one right?

I'm not interested either. Who wants to preside over the worst decline in U.S. history ?

How dare you call Tammy Duckworth 'worthless'!
ALSO--Lynn--wouldn't it be a major conflict of interest for Jarrett to head HUD?

What the Valerie accomplish when she was with the CTA in Chicago?

My money is on Lisa Madigan, or Jesse Jackson Jr.

Both are candidates that deserve a shot on helping

our economy in Chicago get back on track it there is such

a thing.

SHE WILL BE TAKING A CABINET POST, SO TAKE HER
NAME OFF THE SHORT LIST!

I don't get the conversation about Barak's replacement, doesn't it automatically go to one of his kids?

JESSIE JACKSON, JR. WOULD MAKE A FINE JUNIOR
SENATOR FROM ILLINOIS, AND I DON'T THINK HE WOULD
SCARE ANYONE!
HE IS A GREAT CONGRESSMAN AND HIS ORATORY SKILLS
ARE SECOND TO NONE!
