FROM THE OFFICE OF LAURA BUSH

quick read out

Here is a quick readout of the Mrs. Bush's meeting and tour with Mrs. Obama

Just before 2:00 p.m., Mrs. Bush joined the President to greet President-elect and Mrs. Obama on the South Portico. After the arrival, President and Mrs. Bush, with the Obamas, moved to the Diplomatic Reception Room, where President and Mrs. Bush introduced the Obamas to Admiral Stephen Rochon, the Director of the Executive Residence and the Chief Usher.

After the greeting, Mrs. Bush and Mrs. Obama proceeded to the second floor of the Residence where they met and had refreshments. Mrs. Bush gave Mrs. Obama a tour of the second and third floor. They talked about family life, particularly about their children. They spent about an hour together. Following her tour of the Residence, Mrs. Obama met with Admiral Rochon in the Map Room.

And for those of who have asked... Mrs. Bush is wearing a Carolina Herrera dress.

Is that a typo? Who cares about Mrs. Bush's dress! We wanna know who Mrs. Obama is wearing!

Lynn, why don't you say who Michelle was wearing! Give us a break, what will your new job be in the Obama WH.

Michelle, your dress today hit the mark perfectly! The color was beautiful, the style was tasteful and flattering to your figure. You looked simply elegant! Your choice was very appropriate for our future fist lady, it complimented Laura's dress and it was a respectful (but not boring) choice for the White House appearance. The photos of you with Barbara are fantastic and I am very happy that you had this opportunity to tour the White House. All the best to you and your family!

Hi i was wondering about Mrs. Obama's dress

I am excited beyond description at the unity I see in my country. Black and White together. I am a pioneer of integration from Pittsboro, N.C. I entered the 8th grade in 1965 during the period of integration. I graduatged with honors in business in June 1970 where there were two
Black Americans in my class of 104. I am proud that I have been a positive part of the movement. We shall overcome someday. That someday happened on November 4, 2008.

Mrs. Obama's dress please!

Well, it is respectful to know the details of Mrs. Bush's dress - she has always been very appropriately and elegantly dressed. That is why this information is given. And there are many people who would want to know that. As WELL as what Mrs. Obama is wearing (we're not going to start calling our First Ladies by their first names are we?) How pedestrian.

Mrs. Obama's dress is by Chicago designer Maria Pinto.

apparently Mrs. Obama, our future first lady is wearing a Maria Pinto dress that she purchased earlier this year. The dress retails for about $750.

she looks absolutely wonderful, and I agree with the comment that stated that she compliments the current first lady well and that her choice of dress was respectful (but not boring)

I would like to say that I am very proud of Mrs. Michelle Obama. I think that she is a classy lady who will be a great role model for women in the United States. I love her style and her down-to-earth personality. I think that she is just what America needs. I wish President and Mrs. Obama and their daughters the very best in these upcoming years.

A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS!
A GREAT PHOTOGRAPH, THIS PICTURE WILL APPEAR IN
HISTORY BOOKS WORLDWIDE!
I HAVE A SMILE ON MY FACE, YOU COULDN'T KNOCK OFF
WITH AN AXE!

I heard recently that, despite all the perks that come with living in the white house, the first family still has to pay for any food that their private guests consume

mrs obama,s dress is excellant and hey i love president-elect,s walk it,s got ryhthm way to go barack high five

That is such a snipe at Michelle Obama to talk about Laura's dress and not mention Michelle's, who looked beautiful, stately and elegant!

anyone who keeps complaining that they don't know what michelle obama is wearing, i got an idea, look at the picture...

Mrs Obama's dress isn't by Mario Pinto.
The blue dress she wore to make the speech at the Democratic Convention was by Mario Pinto

Both ladies looked absolutely elegant and each complimented their spouses...but why are we concerned with the designer of either women's dress? Really, with the state of America's economy today the designer is irrelevant as well as the cost of the dress. Congrats to both the Obama and Bush families!!!!!

Both of them look elegant, with taste and class but who cares about designers dresses these first ladies are wearing? Only the mentally deranged. Heavenly Father, have mercy! when there are so many hungry, homeless, sick people who are suffering and yet these filthy wealthy rich people are just so concerned about how they can increase their wealth. Please bring with you all your wealth and luxuries in life to your grave.

LINDA ARE YOU OKAY, YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT WEALTH
AS IF THE OBAMA'S ARE FROM WEALTH, AND IT'S NOT
THE TIME TO TALK ABOUT THE BUSH'S WEALTH, LOOK
AT THE PICTURE OF THE FOUR OF THEM AND BE HAPPY
IT HAS TAKEN PLACE!
WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN'T TAKE IT TO THE GRAVE, BUT
YOU CAN LEAVE IT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS!
DON'T YOU WANT TO LEAVE SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEIRS
TO HAVE?
BE HAPPY LINDA AND ENJOY THE INAGURATION!

Mrs. Bush has always been so elegant and appropriately dressed, she is so classy, a perfect example of a first lady of this country, however, Michelle Obama obviously knows nothing about dressing appropriately or looking classy, i can't imagine seeing her all the time posing as first lady of this country

LUCY I SEE YOU HAVEN'T RECOVERED FROM THE ELECTION
BUT YOU ARE GOING TO BE JUST FINE, JUST TURN ON
THAT BLACK AND WHITE TELEVISION AND WATCH THE
INAGURATION JANUARY 2OTH, 2009 AND THAT WILL CURE
ALL THAT VENOM IN YOUR BODY!
IT'S TIME TO INVEST IN A COLOR TELEVISION BECAUSE
BOTH LADIES LOOKED GREAT!
NO DRINKING FOR AWHILE AND BE RESPECTFUL AND GO
TO MASS, CHURCH, PRAYER MEETING, JUST SOMETHING
POSITIVE AND DON'T WATCH FOX NEWS THE REST OF
YOUR LIFE!

I disagree with the earlier comment of who cares about the designer given the state of the economy. As a retail executive for a mainstream national store, big trends driven by someone like Michelle fuel the industry and sales. It may SEEM irrelevant in these dire times to focus on fashion, but so much of our economy is driven by consumers and retail sales that to have someone who drives trends and consumer spending to follow in her path is a BIG boon.

We have already seen big sales in things that she has worn and have been documented. She wears things from high end to medium and makes fashion trends accessible to a wide spectrum. Mrs Obama wil be GOOD for the ready to wear business and retail which employs so many people in this nation.

Rock on Mrs O

It is not an uncommon practice in this country for people to want to dress themselves or family members in outfits of first ladies, celebrities and others. I for one, do not do that but I think both of them were well dressed. Would I read about which designer they are wearing, yes. Would I go out and buy it, no. My eye doctor during the campaign had multiple requests for Sara Palins eye glass frames (which I was told cost over $300) most of the requests came from men. Go figure.

For The idiot that doesn't know their history, that is Laura Bush, Not Barbra, Barbra is George's Mother. Stop making a big deal out of everything. So the woman didn't mention anything about Michelle's dress, so what, Noone said anything about Bush's Suit. It doesn't matter what anyone is wearing it matters what they are about and what they can do for our country.
