Obama's David Plouffe appeal for donors to fight the "smears"

E-mail appeal sent out by Obama campaign manager David Plouffe.....

Friend --

You need to see some of the offensive attacks we're up against. I just recorded a short video on my laptop about John McCain's negative ads.

In the remaining 21 days, we need to be ready to respond to smears like these -- and worse.

We need to show that our supporters will fight back against the McCain campaign's low road tactics. That's why our goal is to bring 100,000 new donors into this movement before midnight on Friday, October 17th.

That means in D.C. we need 1,500 new donors to step up this week.

Now is the time to make your first donation. This is your last opportunity to partner with a previous donor who will match every dollar.

Your donation of $5 becomes $10, $25 becomes $50, and $50 becomes $100 when it's matched by a fellow supporter. Watch the video and double your impact by making a matched donation today.

John McCain and his allies want smears and lies to drive this election.

That must be because the McCain campaign knows they don't have good answers for the issues that matter to ordinary people in D.C. -- like the economy, health care, and ending the war in Iraq responsibly. And they've flatly stated that if they talk about the economy, they will lose.

Instead, they keep coming up with new, outrageous attacks that are even more offensive and baseless than the ones before.

The issues facing our country are too important to let our next president be determined by petty political tactics.

Help reach the goal of 100,000 new donors this week. You can provide the vital resources needed to fight back against these attacks and show John McCain that there's a cost to his 100% negative campaign.

Double your impact today with a matched donation. Make your first donation to help bring the change we need on November 4th:

We've already seen the cost of eight years of failed policies.

With just 21 days left, we have to show John McCain the cost of ignoring the real issues and focusing on false, negative attacks.

Obama for America

Thanks for posting the entire email :) I am going to donate again right now.

As an independent voter, I am still waiting for Obama and his campaign to prove to me that I should vote for him. He has not stepped up to the plate, so to speak. I wait for the truth , from his mouth, not spin. Every time something comes out about Obama it is spun so tightly, then the person or fact, never really discussed properly, it is kicked to the curb or trashed. When I look at Obama, I see 3 A's 1. AYERS, 2. ALINSKY and 3. ACRON. If this is not truth prove it!

What $500,000,000 and all the big media is not enough? By election day there will be a reckoning. BO might get elected, but he will not be legitimate, and it will get worse from there. Finally, is he talking about the failed policies of Chicago? 44 billion deficit in retirement fund in IL? We conservatives will see to it to mention that about a thousand times before election day. Maybe Obama can be as big a "reformer" as your governor. HaHaHa
God Bless America NOT God Damn America
Cubs Suck

I had about 5 juicy items here to send you --but after looking them over, I decided to send them to John McCain.

As Obama's poll numbers continue to increase, and the economic crisis continues to highlight the fact that the liberals (such as Nobel prize winner Paul Krugman) were right about deregulation and the economy, the right wingnuts will get increasingly agitated. The sad thing is that many average-everyday conservatives have bought into the fear and resentment that Atwater and Rove built into the Republican party. When Obama does get elected, it is possible, even likely, that the conservatives will try to cripple Obama's ability to govern with continued lies, hate, fear and innuendo. Personally, I think that's a shame. Most Americans are sick of it. We rise and fall together and we have to stop being so divisive. We need to move forward and fix our economy and our standing in the world, invest in infrastructure and alternative energy, and develop a much more intelligent and all-encompassing foreign policy. If jp michigan is really undecided, than I say email Obama's campaign and ask your questions. There has been much distortion regarding Obama's relationship with and honesty about knowing Ayers. The ACORN controversy has nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with how they pay people. McCain has praised ACORN in the past, for the record. As for Alinsky, I think it's silly to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Are you afraid of community organizing principles? If so, then the Republican convention likely suited you. In truth, once we get into the association game with politicians, it gets rather hairy. For example, did you know that the man McCain hired to be the chief of his transition into the white house was a lobbyist for Saddam Hussein? His name is Timmons. McCain happens to have hung with a lot of felons and lobbyists with shady connections. I don't think that's a reason not to vote for him, especially if you really want four more years like the last eight. But if you're going to worry about who knows who, get all the facts. Look up McCain's associations with John Singltaub and the US Council for World Freedom, Gordon Liddy, William Timmons, Raffaello Follieri, Richard Quinn, Charles Keating, Jim Hensley (Cindy's father, and I think her uncle was a felon, too, but I don't know his name). Also, think about the irony of Sarah Palin talking about weeding out abuses of power in D.C. a day or two after a report was released finding she'd abused her power. Rich, no? Lastly, be sure to read this month's Rolling Stone magazine.

For the rest of us, let's fight those smears!

Happy voting (three more weeks)--

Look, if you don't have anything productive to say please "S.T.F. UP!" I am really tired of lame rhetoric broken records. Who F*cking cares about what Idiot Palin, McLame, and Nobama has done. They all (mass media, rich bigots, politicians) look after their own interest and lie... that's suppose to be new? Amreicans are dumb.

Welcome to the world of Barack Obama's Socialism.
