Obama offering 10 seats at election night Grant Park Obamafest for new internet donors

DES MOINES, IA.--While Barack Obama's team is planning the VIP treatment to big dollar donors, the campaign, in its latest small dollar fund-raising gimmick is trying to lure new contributors by promising them a backstage pass and front row seats for his election night celebration at Chicago's Grant park. Those who contribute for the first time by Sunday midnight get a chance to win one of five hotel-ticket packages for the winner and a guest.

An appeal from Obama just popped in the e-mail:
I want you to be there with me on Election Night when the results come in.

We're planning a big event that will include tens of thousands of supporters in Grant Park in downtown Chicago.

We're saving some of the best seats in the house for 5 people who make their first donation to the campaign before Sunday at midnight.

If you're selected, you can bring a guest, and we'll fly you in and put you up in a hotel for the night. You'll go backstage at the big event and -- no matter what happens -- you'll have a front row seat to history as we celebrate the supporters who got us over the finish line.

Join Barack on Election Night
Friend --

I want you to be there with me on Election Night when the results come in.

We're planning a big event that will include tens of thousands of supporters in Grant Park in downtown Chicago.

We're saving some of the best seats in the house for 5 people who make their first donation to the campaign before Sunday at midnight.

If you're selected, you can bring a guest, and we'll fly you in and put you up in a hotel for the night. You'll go backstage at the big event and -- no matter what happens -- you'll have a front row seat to history as we celebrate the supporters who got us over the finish line.

Any donation counts -- whatever you can afford. Show your support at this crucial time with a donation of $5 or more, and you could join me on Election Night:

This movement for change has been a testament to the power of ordinary Americans coming together to achieve extraordinary things.

I look forward to having you there on Election Night.

Thank you,

Barack

Studs Terkel, who had a huge influence on Chicago politics, has died.

Lynn, your e-mail box is full.

I managed to sign up for the 70,000 or so of the Tuesday Obama Rally Tickets. I signed up within minutes and received an email from the Democratic Party that said, "You will receive further ticketing information in the coming days."

Have they emailed out the ticketing info yet?

Thanks!

Funny, I got an email saying that the 5 seats are being held for people who have already donated and are making their SECOND donation.
shifty.

I'd like to wish you well- but I'm still angry about allegations that ACORN, whom you promised to allow shape your agenda along with other community organizers before your inauguration, has spent tax dollars on the voter registration organization through co-mingling ACH funds and ACORN funds.

If this is the kind of shape your administration seeks --I hope you LOSE bigtime!

The Obama Senatorial policy advisor never did anything that she told me (last year and last January) that she was going to do. I would have settled for that.

Sounds like the lottery to me...

I GUESS IF YOU HAVE BEEN A DONOR TO THE CAMPAIGN EARLY IN THE YEAR YOU CAN NOT DONATE, SINCE I AM A MONTHLY DONOR, I CAN ONLY DONATE WHAT I CAN MONTHLY, THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO DONATE TO THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE FIRST TIME BEFORE SUNDAY MIDNIGHT THAT CAN BE INVITED TO THE PARTY, OH WELL I JUST TRIED TO HELP OBAMA AS MUCH AS I COULD EARLY BECAUSE I BELIEVED IN HIM AND STILL DO, I WOULD LOVE TO BE AT THE PARTY, I NEVER WIN ANYTHING NO WAY. I WILL BE VOTEING AND PRAYING FOR MY NEXT PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, FOR PRESIDENT. GOD BLESS

I would like to attend the party very much, I start donate early in the year I am a monthly donor, why can't we have a chance? I NEVER GET A CHANCE TO WIN ANYTHING, but I will be voting and praying for my next president Barack Obama.

Lynn: Can you find out if people who got the email with following language are those with actual tickets for Tuesday night? I called both the campaign and DNC and neither could answer the question. I know of emails that were sent later said they were wait-listed or did not have tickets.

***THIS IS NOT A TICKET. THIS EMAIL CONFIRMS THAT YOU HAVE SIGNED UP TO RECEIVE AN ELECTION NIGHT EVENT TICKET. ***

You will receive further ticketing information in the coming days.

Thanks,

ADIOS JOHN MCCAIN, HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU!
YOU FOUGHT A CRUMMY CAMPAIGN, AND THE SMARTER MAN
HAS WON THE RACE!
NOW YOU CAN GO HOME, WHICH ONE WE DON'T KNOW AND
RELAX FOR EVER, MAYBE JOE I WANT TO BE A PLUMBER
CAN COME OVER AND SOOTHE YOUR FEET!
BARACK OBAMA THE REAL DEAL, THE SMART ONE IN THE
ELECTION, WE DON'T NEED ANYMORE MARGINAL GUYS
IN THE WHITE HOUSE, GOOD NIGHT JOHN, SLEEP TIGHT!

So, who are the winners?
It feels so "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" doesn't it?
I hope we win!!!

Which donors got to go to Chicago? Michelle Obama mentioned one, Sara Reese of Cary, North Carolina, in an email that I received. How can we, if only out of curiosity, find out the others?

I have been curious about this myself. It was my understanding that 5 were to be first time donors, but 5 were to be ones who had already contributed before, but did so again before the deadline they set. I was curious to know who won, and was hoping they'd put some information/pics of them attending so I could vicariously enjoy... *G* In watching the election night events on TV and online, I never saw anything about it at all, not on the website, TV, no email information... nothing...

Now they're holding another event for attending the inauguration, and I feel a bit dismal about this, wondering if there will be the same dearth of information on who won, and how they enjoyed it...
