WASHINGTON--Sarah Palin tells ABC's Charlie Gibson--in the exclusive interview everybody has been waiting for--that she is ready to lead the country.

excerpt:
GIBSON: Governor, let me start by asking you a question that I asked John McCain about you, and it is really the central question. Can you look the country in the eye and say "I have the experience and I have the ability to be not just vice president, but perhaps president of the United States of America?"

PALIN: I do, Charlie, and on January 20, when John McCain and I are sworn in, if we are so privileged to be elected to serve this country, we'll be ready. I'm ready.

I'm ready.

GIBSON: And you didn't say to yourself, "Am I experienced enough? Am I ready? Do I know enough about international affairs? Do I -- will I feel comfortable enough on the national stage to do this?"

PALIN: I didn't hesitate, no.

GIBSON: Didn't that take some hubris?

PALIN: I -- I answered him yes because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink, you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate.

****************************

GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." Are we fighting a holy war?

PALIN: You know, I don't know if that was my exact quote.

GIBSON: Exact words.

PALIN: But the reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln's words when he said -- first, he suggested never presume to know what God's will is, and I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words. But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side. That's what that comment was all about, Charlie.

GIBSON: I take your point about Lincoln's words, but you went on and said, "There is a plan and it is God's plan."

PALIN: I believe that there is a plan for this world and that plan for this world is for good. I believe that there is great hope and great potential for every country to be able to live and be protected with inalienable rights that I believe are God-given, Charlie, and I believe that those are the rights to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That, in my world view, is a grand -- the grand plan.

GIBSON: But then are you sending your son on a task that is from God?

PALIN: I don't know if the task is from God, Charlie. What I know is that my son has made a decision. I am so proud of his independent and strong decision he has made, what he decided to do and serving for the right reasons and serving something greater than himself and not choosing a real easy path where he could be more comfortable and certainly safer.

"first and most important, provide a setting removed from one's usual interpersonal games, and as free as possible from unforeseen distractions and intrusions. The voyager should make sure that he will not be disturbed;visitors or telephone calls will often jar him into hallucinatory activity."
tim leary wrote that some time back. could it be the alaskan governor is...well, channeling him?

That is probably the same type of answer every President we ever had would give as well as Obama , Biden or Hillary Clinton

not much substance. All hat no cattle. Guess she better go back to school for more training from the puppet masters.

She is ready to start a war with Russia...Come on are we kidding ourselves...what in the heck are we thinking or better yet what was McCain thinking...plus her husband and her were members of the ANTI-american group who wanted independence for Alaska...Timothy Mcvey was part of that thinking

Too condescending with "Charlie" all over the palce. Quite hollow!

What if one hasnt got a god (like me). I was born and raised an atheist -- and dont dare tell me that I was created by your god anyway, because its all a figment of your imagination. Does this mean that one has to believe in god to have rights in this country? How will she handle the non believers? If she adheres strictly to her beliefs with self righteousness, there will be no tolerance for those who dont -- and thats scary. She comes from an insulated place and lacks the depth that comes with experience and exposure to the vastness of humanity.
No matter what people believe, we're all infidels -- in someones estimation...

This is your headline? When Palin spoke about her willingness to go to war with Russia over a Georgian invasion? Which would, if it ever came to pass, be a nuclear war?

Politics, folks! I didn't think she came off all that well, but I think she performed no worse than the other three candidates would have to the short answer questions that Gibson asked. They were largely questions to supply answers for liberals. Conservatives, especially practicing Christians, know that all things fit into God's plan for humanity and this world. God can also use the failings of humans to further his plan, and there have been plenty of failings from our government in the last few years. I think Palin has a grasp of those failings, the same as you and I. Gibson belabored the God's plan statement to supply some red meat for Liberals. I don't think that he accomplished his mission. With that being said, most people watch speeches and interviews with a jaundiced eye. It depends on which camp you are from.

my lord - no she did not say that and you should look up what NATO means and what is expected of all countries that enter into NATO. Looks like she scooped you on at least what is NATO, and when you join, what you sign up for.

MAYBE SHE CAN LEAD RUSSIA SINCE SHE CAN SEE IT
EVERY DAY!
SHE DID PASS WITH A D-, YOU GUYS FORGET SHE
ATTENDED 6 DIFFERENT COLLEGES IN 6 YEARS!
