ST. PAUL, MN.--Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in her keynote speech Wednesday downgrades Barack Obama's organizing experience and hits media elite who have raised questions about why John McCain tapped her to be his running mate.

Excerpts: Remarks by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin

Vice Presidential Nominee to Address the 2008 Republican National Convention

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - This evening Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican Party's vice presidential nominee, will address the 2008 Republican National Convention. Excerpts from the governor's remarks, as prepared for delivery, are below.

On her experience as a public servant:

"I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids' public education better. When I ran for city council, I didn't need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too. Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."

On why she is going to Washington, D.C.:

"I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly, these past few days, that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country."

On energy policies that the McCain-Palin administration will implement:

"Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems - as if we all didn't know that already. But the fact that drilling won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all. Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines...build more nuclear plants...create jobs with clean coal...and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers."

On John McCain:

"Here's how I look at the choice Americans face in this election. In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change."

Unfortunately, she didn't write her own speech.

This McCain ticket is a Rovian nightmare, and a bad dream that we can all pray is not viisted upon the American public.

american!

mcCain picked this lady to shore up his conservative base the disgruntled hillary supporters and for the off shore drilling in alaska this was a chess move and i am so sick of politicans playing us like we are pawns on a chess board this woman ha no experiance whatsoever there is no way she whould be ready to lead day 1 or if something was to happen to the president and if people think so they are crazy when are we going to wake up and say enough is enough some people might not like obama but look at this ticket do u really believe this is the way our country should be headed if so we have all failed

SHE DID HER JOB, SHE NEEDS TO TELL HER DAUGHTER
NOT TO SPIT ON HER HAND AND WIPE IT ON HER
INFANTS HEAD!
WHY DO THEY PASS THAT BABY AROUND LIKE NOBODY
WANTS TO HOLD THE CHILD?
SARAH PALIN'S ROLE IS ONE OF ATTACK DOG, SHE IS
TOUGHER THAN MCCAIN AND THE GOP AND SHE IS GOING
TO DO WHAT SHE IS TOLD TO DO, ONE PROBLEM SHE
BETTER BE ABLE TO TAKE IT, AS MUCH THAT SHE IS
DISHING IT OUT!
THEY HIRE A WOMAN TO DO THEIR DIRTY WORK, BECAUSE
THEY KNOW OBAMA AND BIDEN ARE GENTLEMEN, BUT
THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE THE GLOVES OFF DURING THE
DEBATES!
WHAT ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO DO ABOUT THE ECONOMY?
I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER, SO DON'T REPLY
BACK, I STILL SAY OBAMA AND BIDEN IN A LANDSLIDE!

Gov Palin for VP is wrong on so many levels. First, it is so apparent that McCain only picked her because she is a woman. Second, she has a 3 month old child and should remain as governor to take care of the child. Her rude and condescending remarks that Obama is running for President because he only wants to further his career is insulting and disrespectful. Especially since she has an infant with special needs, but then SHE isn't running for VP to further her career. I think that most people will see through her insincerity. Her sneering demeanor tonight was shameful.

Gov Palin's speech was nasty, condescending and insulting to all Americans. If the Republicans want a culture war, it was started tonight. The gloves are off.

Sarah Palin, is going to have pain in her body , mind and peace..... She is going to see the Democratic pain... She is going to see American economical pain... killing her total career.. Finally she will be ditched to deep earth after insulting Obama..

Republicans started Racism.... again..

Palin, insulted dignity of Labour... She insulted a small community organizer as a insult, and can not run a country..

A man from bottom to top only can run the country, and to bring country up... NOT A BEAUTY pageant competition....

SARAH get ready for the real war, that you never saw in your fake life..

I SOLD THE LUXURY PLANE ON E BAY!
YEP SHE'S READY TO BE VICE-PRESIDENT!
GIVE ME A BREAK, SHE HAS NASTY STREAK IN HER!
ALSO SHE LEFT THE TOWN SHE WAS MAYOR IN, IN DEBT!
MCCAIN IS A LOSER, AND THEY WON'T WIN!
OBAMA AND BIDEN THEY ARE FOR WORKING FAMILIES!

Most of what the Republicans have said the truth about the Experience part of being President. Our Jr. Senator has not written 1 single bill in the 4 years as our US Senator? He's been campaigning for 2 years on our Dime?

What, does Dick Durbin have to do all the work or is this guy going to be "Puff Candy"? If Obama can promise this nation of no new taxes for everyone, then he'd get my vote. He wants to raise more taxes. Simple as that...

Since he doesn't want to take public money and he's from the Chicago Machine, it only shows that people aren't sheep. Man, did he blow. 2012 and 2016 is around the corner for the Democrats. WOOT!

HE ISN'T APART OF THE CHICAGO MACHINE!
STOP WATCHING FOX NEWS!
THE MAN HAS WRITTEN MORE THAN 1 BILL!
RESPECT THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!
WHY DID SARAH PALIN GO TO 5 COLLEGES IN 6 YEARS?

This is ridiculous. You Obamatons attack her for her lack of experience, but seem to not care about Obama's. Let's remember one thing: she is NOT running for president! She might possibly be president if one of you wackos kills McCain... compare that to Obama who will DEFINITELY be president if he wins. Would you rather have somebody with little experience who has a tiny chance of being president, or one who will definitely be president?

You all (especially you Serene) have so much hatred in you, it's not funny. But it just goes to show, hatred trumps reason every time. Funny, it's always been the MO of people like the KKK - now you Obamatons. That's sad.
