The scoop from Washington

Obama raises $66 million in August--smashing previous one month record.

WASHINGTON--The Obama campaign raised $66 million in August--a new record--besting the $55 million previous monthly best set last February. Obama also added 500,000 new donors, according to Obama spokesman Bill Burton.

Obama opted not to take $84 million in public funding for his general election campaign-- because the Obama team was confident they could raise more. McCain took the $84 million check. Besides the Obama and McCain presidential warchests, each campaign also benefits from money raised by the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee.

McCain raised $47 million in August, more than double his previous best month, fueled in part by a $10 million donation surge triggered by adding Sarah Palin to his ticket.

OBAMA/BIDEN2008!!!!!
I'M SENDING ANOTHER $150.00

I loved reading some of the stories about doom and gloom in the Obama camp. Everybody has an agenda. Now cheap paint will start coming off the McCain/Palin statue and what will be exposed is not pretty. An old war hero with a bad temper and a wandering eye. A young woman that is vindictive and deceitful. He should be fishing and she should be arguing at a PTA meeting.
It has nothing to do with the fact that he is elderly, it has nothing to do with the fact she is a woman. He is out of touch and she has never been in touch.

There is plenty of time for Obama to sew this thing up. We are in a good place. When you take into consideration that millions of new voters are not included in the polling data ,you will realize this is not as close as it seems.
Palin energized the conservative base. Obama energizes all ages, races, faiths, lifestyles, and both genders.

America is smart enough to see through the idiocy of a McCain/Palimn administration. This is our country we are talking about, the future of our children. Its not reality TV and there are no commercials.

Palin would be one heartbeat away from the Presidency. She would quickly become a pawn of the lobbyists and the special interests that they represent. The Neoconservatives that exerted tremendous influence over Bush would be in charge.

We cannot afford 8 more yeas of sheer madness.
Wreckless spending, record budget deficits, record gas prices, record home foreclosures, massive layoffs, record bankruptcies, numerous scandals, and a war waged by mistake have taken their toll on America. We can do better than this.

Hollywood and the 'elitists' are going all-out as far as money goes. Also, Obama went back on his word as far as public-funding goes. Just as did as far as taking lobbyists money.

500,000 thousand brand new Hollywood "elitists"

Stop, stop, stop that. Have you seen my life? There is nothing elitist about a stay-at-home mother of 3 contributing to the campaign of a person who has the potential to positively influence the future of her children. Elitist, you've got to be kidding me! Use you're words differently, do better, you're fear is showing. God bless America and God Bless Barak Obama!
