The scoop from Washington

Obama camp said to be leaning towards Biden for vice president.

I'm just passing on the latest I'm hearing--that Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) is moving up on the list of potential running mates for presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). While Obama's heart may go towards Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine--his head takes him to a more experienced pick, a Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) or Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

I can see the appeal of Kaine--the parallel narrative is compelling. Their mothers came from the same Kansas town, both Harvard Law grads with interests in civil rights; both wives Harvard Law grads. Kaine and Obama also have great chemistry--Obama stumped for Kaine when he was running for governor in 2005 and Kaine was the second governor to endorse Obama.

HE WILL LET YOU KNOW, WHOMEVER IT IS, IT'S GOING
TO BE A BIG SURPRISE!!
WE KNOW MCCAIN IS GOING TO PICK LIEBERMAN, HOW
IN THE WORLD IS HE GOING TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN SHIA AND SUNNI!
LIEBERMAN DOESN'T KNOW IF HE IS DEMOCRAT,
INDEPENDENT OR REPUBLICAN, HE IS JUST A MIDDLE
OF THE ROAD GUY!
THE CONSERVATIVES ARE GOING TO RAISE BLANK IF
MCCAIN CHOOSES LIEBERMAN!

Picking Biden would be following further the trend to the RIGHT
recipe for disaster Michael Moore warns about:

Having said that---Moore was WRONG to tell the left that Hillary was not the candidate because of the arm twisting she buckled to. A President is NOT SUPPOSED TO LIE.
Can we PLEASE focus on the REAL ENEMY.
Can we please IMPEACH THEM?
RUN AS LIBERALS?
Ron Susskind’s blockbuster about REAL EVIDENCE that we cannot IGNORE about the lies that brought us into WAR!!!

Hope this will be brought up at the convention.

Senator Obama is too liberal...

Bill Richardson is my personal favorite for VP - he has an outstanding and diverse resume. Richardson was in Springfield yesterday and spoke at the County Chairman's Breakfast, the Democratic State Convention, and at Governor's Day at the State Fair. Richrdson did an excellent job - appeared to be personable, experienced and knowledgeable.

Joe Biden would be my second choice becasue of his foreign policy expertise. Obama needs to pick an experinced VP knowlegeable in the ways of Washington and the world to undercut Republican attacks on his competence in foreign policy.

I was just wondering if anyone thinks Kerry will be the VP. He has a background in the military, great name recognition, and about half of the country already has voted for him. Moreover, I don't think anyone who has voted for him in the past regrets voting for him.

Also, in terms of party unity, both Clinton and Obama supporters have likely voted for him in the past. He has garners more votes than Clinton's "18 million".

I know that since he lost, many poke fun at him. But many believe that he was wrongly tarred by the Swiftboaters. It may be poetic justice for them to win together this time.

I have always thought Biden would be a great choice and I am hoping that he's the one. We need someone who can eviscerate McCain with one well-placed remark. Someone who really does bring a gun to a knife fight. And for those who are nervous about Obama's youth (I'm not btw) Biden provides reassurance.

He won't make the netroots happy, but he's the smart pick. Always has been.

Let's hope Kaine. And if he can't bring himself to do it, then please let it be Biden and not Bayh. Bayh will cause a revolt in the ranks, and he simply doesn't add much to the ticket, and he costs the Dems a useful domestic policy vote in the Senate.

I agree with Brandenburg--except that Richardson may have some skeletons (apparently a bit too touchy feely), but Biden's background is also very good--Catholic, born in working class Pennsylvania. Kaine is too inexperienced, and with recent events Democrats can't allow the inexperience narrative to get bigger.

I trust Obama to choose wisely. He knows what he wants in a VP and will surely make a good choice. Please vote for Obama, visit WHYOBAMA08.ORG!!

No one is talking about it, and the man is likely not in serious contention, but Ret. Gen Tony Zinni would be a sterling choice to run as Obama's VP.

He was the commander of CENTCOM prior to Gen Franks, was a vocal critic of the lack of planning and reconstruction efforts in Iraq before it even became evident there was a problem. He was the US diplomatic envoy to the Middle East viz a viz Israel/Palestine.

He is thoughtful, extraordinarily smart, a decorated 4-star general, speaks several languages, and from what I understand a very moderate democrat. He would be absolutely phenomenal.

WES CLARK! Richardson is a predator and one of the worst opportunists in politics. Biden is small potatoes. Bayh is a right winger. Kaine is a white, less experienced, less progressive Obama. Maybe he blows the doors off this thing and talks Gore back into the fold.

Tim Kaine is ruining Virginia with high taxes something like what Obama is going to do to our nation. Raising taxes is Obamas only answer to every governemnt problem.
Read the The Case Against Barack Obama its # 5 on NY Times and #1 on Amazon.com. It tells in detail who Obama really is and does the vetting the driveby media won't do.

Lots of Republican war loving pimps on here. Obama and the Democrats have never fleeced the American middle class, far from it, the Roosevelt coalition created the middle class when the Republican depression of unregulated robber barons pimps, today version/oil companies and defense contractors fleeced the country and left it for dead. Nice try you lying scum. Keep working at Walmart and thinking your free with no health care and your middle man insurance company fleecers making all the money and leaving you broke and sick

I think and hope it will be Biden. Biden checks off a lot of things Obama needs. Born in PA, irish-catholic, chairman of the foreign relations commitee, all these can help in the categories Obama might need some extra help from. On top of that Biden is a straight talker, which will help balance Obama out who doesnt seem to want to be very blunt about the truth sometimes. The constant attacks from Biden could be very effective in pushing Mccain's buttons and reveal his angry side that i've heard exists, and if he shows that side, it will hurt Mccains campaign by a large factor i believe. Angry people should not be in charge of whether to wage war will be the big question if it indeed happens.

I thought Democrats were so smart? Name calling and racially bigotry like I have read from Democrats doesn't seem intelligent to me!

TO John Hoctor, if I wanted to get low at least I know who is my Daddy or going to the Democratic Convention is like going to the Maury Povich show when he asks the audience who be the baby daddy.

I looked up "angry" in my Dictionary, and saw Mean Joe Biden's picture..
