For male readers of this blog, stay with me here...men..do you know that panty hose wearing is a blg deal to women, especially in the summer when it is hot and wearing panty hose is torture...but I digress...Michelle Obama decided to play ball with this one, and she engaged.
"I stopped wearing panty hose a long time ago," Obama said, "because it was painful and they'd always rip. And I'm 5'11'' so I'm tall, nothing fits...Put 'em on, rip 'em..it's inconvenient."

I have ALWAYS hated panty hose!!! I hardly ever wear them, even to church. I appreciate a first lady who can be honest about NOT feeling a misplaced sense of propriety, as a woman. Obama has had my vote from the start, yet as he likes to say, "she is the deal closer."

Leggings or no leggings. Its up to the individual. Leggings does not make or break a first lady. She'll wear them if and when requires. Pretty face wearing stocking ladies could be more devious and conniving that any other ladies. If it makes you happy and comfy not to wear them, its up to you. Can't please everyone. Please God, please yourself. She has good skin.

I totally agree with Michelle on this Note - pantyhose are out I only and I mean only wear them for an evening event when I am wearing a dress. I can't really stand them for any other reason.

If I remember correctly pantyhose came out the same time that short skirts reached the mini-micro lengths. Panty Hose served the same purpose as the Modesty Panels did for secretaries. Protected those decency violating females who never learned how to keep their legs crossed properly and not splayed.
But that was back during the A.D.1960's and even then the Panty Hose was looked at as Russian's invention to replace the chasity belt. I even forget why they called them Panty Hose. Was it because you could now run around without your panties? Now nothing came between you and your Panty Hose. Such barbaric actions.
And that other Russian invention, The Girdle! Another Russian invention? Damn the souls of all those unpatriotic and indecent girdle wearing, belly hiding and rubber undie support wearing women to Playtex HELL!
Panty hose replaced the need for those other nasty undergarments called (full length/half) slips.
Stockings, complete with garters and a bustier will never go out of fashion or appeal. Face it, they are just too sexy.
In the sixties (yes I remember them)seventies, eighties, nineties and some of the styles now require panty hose to achieve a smooth appearance and reduce static cling.
In my twenties, thirties and forties I had great GAMS! Now and since I passed a certain milestone, I am not so sure. The years have not been kind (to my legs) and I rarely have time to sun bathe or find out if a good all over tan will cover the scars, nicks, bruises and spider veins.
At formal evening functions I will wear the color of hose that most complements my garments. In the day time, say during bridal luncheons, If I am wearing a tea length Sun dress with open toe shoes, and my toes have been properly pedicured and my feet pampered, I might go without them. It a depends on the function and what I am wearing.
Michell Obama is "cut" (well defined muscles, beautifully statuesque, carries herself well and she is definitely refined) all over. She can go with or without panty hose, sleeves, make-up or whatever.
With some people it matters not what they are or not wearing. Their inner beauty out shines the need for atifice of any sort. Michelle Obama in one such person. She will be our next next First Lady and she will make us very proud!
Though I respect it, I'm disappointed in the future First Lady's decision not to wear pantyhose. I believe they make the perfect accessory to a woman's, especially an African-American's, wardrobe. I would have loved to see hear wearing a pair of black fully fashioned stockings with that purple dress she had on during the June 3 rally in St. Paul.
Does Michelle Obama starch her pantyhose or what? What does she mean painful? I've been wearing pantyhose for over thirty years and without them my legs ache, but, because I do wear, I won't have the varicose vein problems that many other women will have in their later years. I find much comfort in wearing them nearly 24/7 while for some strange reason others have to rip them off as soon as they get home from the office. I appreciate the way they enhance the look of my legs, the healthy aspects of wearing, not to mention how comfortable (at least the brand I wear) they actually are.
I agree with healthy legs pantyhose are awesome healthy and comfy, but most of all sexy!!!
Just because the First Lady does not wear pantyhose does not make her Vulgar. She is a classy, intelligent loving wife and mother. Vulgar is when people try to be better than everyone else by trashing them. Just because a woman wears pantyhose does not make her classy!!! Her caring and compassion for others makes her classy.
