The scoop from Washington

Clinton's goodbye letter to supporters

The Clinton campaign has been e-mailing this regarding Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) decision to offer White House hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) congrats on Saturday in Washington. No word yet if Obama will attend.

From Clinton...
I wanted you to be one of the first to know: on Saturday, I will hold an event in Washington D.C. to thank everyone who has supported my campaign. Over the course of the last 16 months, I have been privileged and touched to witness the incredible dedication and sacrifice of so many people working for our campaign. Every minute you put into helping us win, every dollar you gave to keep up the fight meant more to me than I can ever possibly tell you.
On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.

I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise.

When I decided to run for president, I knew exactly why I was getting into this race: to work hard every day for the millions of Americans who need a voice in the White House.

I made you -- and everyone who supported me -- a promise: to stand up for our shared values and to never back down. I'm going to keep that promise today, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life.

I will be speaking on Saturday about how together we can rally the party behind Senator Obama. The stakes are too high and the task before us too important to do otherwise.

I know as I continue my lifelong work for a stronger America and a better world, I will turn to you for the support, the strength, and the commitment that you have shown me in the past 16 months. And I will always keep faith with the issues and causes that are important to you.

In the past few days, you have shown that support once again with hundreds of thousands of messages to the campaign, and again, I am touched by your thoughtfulness and kindness.

I can never possibly express my gratitude, so let me say simply, thank you.

Sincerely,
Hillary
Hillary Rodham Clinton

So, sorry. Hillary I can not in good faith support Obama for President. As a independent, I support a party where one person-one vote.

I have been your supporter from the start, and I will support Obama likewise. Thank you for all your personal effort to Democratic values and I wish that Obama would offer the VP slot to you......bill

I won't support Obama,I feel very strongly that his campaign, the party, and the press treated you unfairly. He had so many more negative issues, and the press, and the party gave him a free pass.A matter of fact I'm switching which party I support.I'm joining the thousands of people switching to independent(POPULIST)not capulist.I feel you and your husband are always being treated unfairly, through both parties and beyond.I really hope you don't except the veep slot,it would be the worst decision for you.He used the race card to the fullist against you,and the president.Their is no changing my mind, once I change it.Maybe both of you should take a page out of the moron's book, and clear all the negative hoopla from the Clinton name,so it can make things easier for your wonderful daughter. Also I do feel strongly the nineties were very good times for this country.Remember GOD watches over all, especially those who follow his word, keeps the faith, and one that always helps others. SO GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY,KEEP THE FAITH,AND ALWAYS LOVE GOD,AND GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I cannot vote for Barack Obama until he apoligizes to Geraldine Ferraro for allowing his surrogates to label her as a racist.

It was wrong and he should be ashamed of himself.

Sen Clinton,as cancer survivor and dealing with my human condition day by day,(as a matter of fact, my urologyst called me at home yesterday and let me know that i have a growth on my right adrenal gland, the left one was removed along with my left kidney, i mailed yesterday a $807.00 check for my stayed in a rehab/place after my right total knee replacement.my left knee also needs the same surgicals' procedure and i've been praying to god that medicaid will aproved it but, it seems to me that cancer has the top priority and i have to wait as i did with my prostate's radiation therapy. on september i'll be switched to medicare and my future will be remained uncertain, taking into account that we constituents love you, for 16 years youhave been fighting for us, you are a genuine leader not a power hungry it is the difference which we can visualize in your leadership.IT IS THE RESON WHY I HATE TO SEE YOU GO,YOU WERE THE ONLY HOPE WHICH I HAD LEFT.THE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE WON'T BE INSTITUTIONALIZE!!!. (god bless you and your family, senator hillary clinton).

I think this is a very gracious letter written by a very gracious lady. I congratulate her on a splendid campaign, and as she said, she's supporting the winner!

BUILDING POST-OBAMA SUBSTANTIVE-STRUCTURE

Kurt Steiner

I want to participate in a "pro-white" advocacy-group. The masses
crave a body that affords them a political say. They want a vehicle
for peaceful political-struggle against cultural-domination and
Marxist-totalitarianism. I have been looking for people who believe
in organizing, but, instead, have found groups and forums which have
been infiltrated by "moderates" posing as "pro-white." They preach
a number of dysfunctional principles that have worked to totally
prevent any mainstream political-expression. First of all, they adopt
a harsh-sounding name or symbol from some by-gone age. They rebuke
George W. Bush, oppose subversives and are against the Iraq-Afghan
invasion, but come across as woefully "unpatriotic."

When asked, "What can we do about it?" they recommend reading
a long list of books for later discussion, while ignoring any sort of
grass-roots formation. "I dont want to get arrested, do you? It's
illegal to be white," they are prone to say. Or, they suggest joining
the ones who dress up in various odd costumes. Some will hint that
"whites might get riled up enough to begin fighting," once Barack
Obama goes in, but it all is just verbal, without any substantive-structure.
Some say that "you have to be real careful, because there are a
lot of federal-infiltrators about." When told that there must be
actual organization, they attack the proponent as a "redneck,"
"white-trash" or "certifiably crazy," to name a few.

These "moderates" actually fight against organizing and taking part
in political-structuring and demonize anyone who suggests "using the
system to change the system." It is as though ignorance of politics
will somehow carry the day, rather than mastery of politics. It is
very bizarre to see such goings-on within the ranks of the very ones
who should be marching forward and making gains. The result is that
those who try to step out as social-reformers don't know what to do
and are goaded into breaches of the law and put away for thirty or
forty years. Non-activists, then, become so intimidated as to beg
off, entirely. That leaves "pro-whites" with an "inferiority-complex,"
even though we put a man on the moon.

From a biological standpoint, the strong survive and the weak
perish. If we are to emerge victorious, we must exert our strength.
Presently, we are markedly behind others in using many crucial
survival-skills. One such skill has always been our ability to
organize and stand up for our own interests. On the other hand, the
NAACP, Nation of Islam, Black Caucus and Urban League are working
for their own interests. The "Encyclopedia of Associations" lists
three-hundred under the "black" category, plus six-hundred under
"Jewish," alone. Percentage-wise, we ought to have at least 48,000
advocacy-groups. Since we make up over eighty-percent of the
population, we deserve a well-planned organization of our own.

i think the democratic party is full of bs for what they did to Hillary

Dear Mrs. Hillary.
YOU ARE THE GREATEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD. It doesn’t matter you won or not .
Hillary Clinton is our hero... Remember !The Hero never loss... Alway win and win!
GOD BLESS YOU, YOUR FAMILY & AMERICAN
Castppn

I am a Black female who supported Hillary's candidacy, but since her hostile push out of the campaign by the media and the Democratic Dons, I just downloaded a voter's registration form and re-registered as an Independent. I will not under any circumstances vote for Obama. The Democratic Party has failed once again because they have subjected themselves to the shackles of the Republican party which resulted in the Florida and Michigan debacle. The Democratic party is now its own worst enemy.

I am overcome with distress at the loss America will suffer due to the defeat of Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nominee for the Presidency. Hillary has made me and all likeminded womem appreciate what is right about the America we live in. I am concerned that Hillary will not be there as President to fight for me, my children, and grandchildren. We have experienced a great loss.

My only hope is that Baroque Obama will use the good sense God gave him to realize that the only ticket which can defeat him is one which does not include Hillary Rodham Clinton as Vice President. If he decides otherwise, we must get used to the reality of President McCain.

Hillary there can never be another like you~You are the one that stood for everything i wanted!GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS AND I AM NOW STANDING RIGHT BESIDE SE. MC CAIN~MY DREAM TICKET WITH YOU HEADING THE WAY WAY IS NOW BROKEN TIME TO SWITCH PARTIES~

Obama will do a great job for America and the world. Supporters of Hillary, support Obama. You will save your party, America and the world. Follow your leader and rally behind Obama.
God bless you Hillary.

The Democratic Party cheated. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, the people spoke but the party refused to listen, now the Democratic Party is going to loose. I will not vote for Obama, I will vote for McCain. The dream ticket would be McCain and Clinton. Both of them can bring about the change America needs to survive.

I support Hillary too, wholeheartedly, and I think she deserved the candidacy, but I think it's important to remember that Obama and her differ only a small amount on the issues, and that a vote for McCain out of spite for Obama would only insult the integrity of Hillary and all that she stands for.

Please remember that there is a war going on, healthcare is broken, and we already have enough hatred. Blaming the media (as easy as it is right now) won't change these things. A unified, elected Democratic party will.

Let's remember the issues.

Thank you Hillary and good luck.

Mrs. Hillary R. Clinton,
I want to congratulate "YOU" for the Gracious Lady that you are. There will NEVER be another Hillary R. Clinton. You became So Special with Qualities that made us LOVE You for, "YOU" the person.
Your Campaign was outstanding. Despite all the negative, unfairness from Obama's campaign, the party, and the media, you always maintained commited, dedicated, and showed tremendous strength until the end.
My family, friends, and colleagues feel devastated. We are VERY saddened at the loss America will suffer due to the defeat of Hillary R. Clinton for the Democratic Nominee for the Presidency.
The Democratic Party has failed once again with their unfair (CHEATING) DNC Florida/Michigan results. What a Democracy! Pretty sad to say the least.
Finally, we're hoping Mrs. Clinton DOES "NOT" accept the VP slot. She should NOT play second-fiddle to Obama. With her intelligence, experience, commitment, strength, and the Love and Pride for her country "SHE" should have been OUR President of the United States.
We are very disillusioned and feel that the outcome of this campaign was a disgrace to our country, as well as to Mrs. Clinton's supporters. For this reason we have decided to vote Republican. We will NOT support Obama. He is totally incompetent,
and we're hoping to see McCain win over Obama.
Mrs. Clinton we love you, and May God Always Bless You and Your Family, and God Bless America!

This proves there are more of us that hate the Clintons than love them. Even the politicians think it is time to put the Clintons out to pasture.

Hillary,

Both my wife amd I wish you the best.Hope you continue to stay strong and that you will accept the Vice President position..

John and Sandra Thompson
Tracy,California

Mrs Clinton, you are superwoman. I do hope Senator Obama will appoints you as Vice President of the United States of america

I am a big supporter of yours, but cannot support Obama. He is too far left for me and for America. I am sadden to witness the media bias in this election; it is so unfair. In the America I know and love, it is the people that elect the candidate, not the press. Further, I am disappointed that the Democratic Party would allow the select few super delegates decide our nominee, not the people. This is not the Democratic Party I know and love. I will be leaving the Democratic Party, registering as an Independent, and will vote for Senator McCain in November.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO FACE THE REALITY OF A PRESIDENCY OF JOHN MCCAIN
PLEASE VOTE FOR THE RIGHT MAN BARACK OBAMA!
YOU HAVE JUMPED FROM HILLARY TO THE FRYING PAN, DON'T BURN YOURSELF, VOTE FOR OBAMA!
HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOU, HE JUST DEFEATED YOUR CANDIDATE!
IT'S NOT RIGHT THAT YOU PLACE EITHER THIS OR EITHER THAT ON OBAMA,
HE JUST RAN A BETTER CAMPAIGN, IT WAS ABOUT DELEGATES NOT FLORIDA
AND MICHIGAN, DON'T GET FOOLED THIS IS WHAT THE GOP WANTS YOU TO
DO!
MCCAIN CAN'T EVEN READ FROM A TELEPROMPTER!

We love you Hillary, it is so sad that the "best candidate", was not chosen. The DNC will regret it in the long run, dont give up, God have a way of working things out. After the opposition expose all the "hidden scandals", and "negatives' about the OBAMAS, i see where he will "willingly give up" his quest for the Presidency. You Hillary won more votes anyway, the Delegates especially your past friends will also regret their decisions.
In the event that "hostilities develop between the USA and Iran", he will then wish he "never ran for the White House.
THE LEADER OF THE "FREE WORLD POSITION" IS NOT A JOKE, IT IS ONE OF VERY HIGH STANDARDS, INFLUENCE, POWER, AND PLACES THE USA IN VERY PROMINENT STATUS. Good speech, and rock star status will not make this happen. Senator Obama should have waited, studied, and gained more experience in the "political arena", before he "jumped into this power status seeking, self promoting game".
Many of the "people jumping for joy", will regret and not be so happy if he should be elected as President. Under Socialist rule, they will have to stay in school, work hard, and be dictated to by the Government. Many of the "new voters especially the young", just heard "change we can believe in", and follow the crowd.
THE USA IS A REPUBLIC WITH LAWS, VALUES, AND A CONSTITUTION WHICH CAN NOT BE CHANGED UNLESS THE PEOPLE SIT BY AND LET IT HAPPEN.

Dear Mrs.Clinton,

You are the greatest woman in America!
Thank you for standing for all of us, and I am so,so sorry you did not make it. It is a sad day for Amrica... We all lost.

Mirtala and Wolfgang Braun (Abu Dhabi UAE)

I also am a Hillary supporter who will not vote for Barack Obama. I have reviewed his adult work history and it is merely a series of part time and temporary jobs. It seems that he did not have much intersted in taking on more than entry level responsibilities at any of them. I don't relate to his view of treating every job as a stepping stone to the next one. There is not evidence that Barack did anything that did not directly benefit him. Seems if he cared about our country, he would have made an effort to be prepared for the job he seeks. He's too green for me.

To those who will not support Senator Obama for President because of various I say calm down think carefully about what is at stake.

A non vote or vote for Senator McCain is a vote for staying in Iraq, a vote for making no serious attempt at providing insurance for people like me with a pre exisiting condition.
Hillary brought up Tony Rezco, she lied about getting shot at in Bosnia, she was and is no angel. If she were the nominee I would vote for her without thinking twice.

This is about life and death, war and peace, helping those who are sick or leaving them to fend for themselves. Stay focused on the big picture and vote for the nominee of the Democratic party.

I want to say that Hillary Rodham Clinton has tried her best, which in the opinion of the American people, was not enough to make her president. She should not loose hope, afterall, there is another day and there are other projects to undertake in time to come.
However, it will be in the best interest of Obama and the Democratic party as a whole to create a joint ticket for Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton. By this, I also espect that Mrs. Clinton will accept the VP slot when offered by Obama.

If for no other reason, people like screaming PHIL SMITH JR have so insulted and disgusted me that I WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR Obama. If he works for that candidate, the campaign would do well to get rid of someone so critical of the opponents and voters.

THAT'S IT IN A NUTSHELL, CALM DOWN ALL HILLARY SUPPORTERS, I HOPE
SHE CONVEYS THIS TOMORROW, VOTE DEMOCRATIC, VOTE FOR OBAMA, OR
DON'T CRY WHEN GAS IS 8 BUCKS A GALLON!
OBAMA IS THE RIGHT MAN AT THE RIGHT TIME, JOHN MCCAIN IS A SAD
CANDIDATE FOR THE GOP, AND THEY KNOW IT, HE CAN'T READ FROM A
TELEPROMPTER, HE IS A DULL GUY, THEREFORE HE WILL BE A DULL
PRESIDENT!
LET'S GET A DEMOCRAT BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE, THE CLINTON'S, THE
OBAMA'S COME TOGETHER AND DEFEAT MCCAIN!

Its incredible the democrats who say they will not vote for Obama under any circumstances. It seems that mainly Clinton supporters have so much anger and vitriol. Admittedly, I am an Obama supporter, but it is the truth that I would have voted, albeit angrily or sadly, for Hillary if the circumstances were reversed. It is the epitome of selfishmess to vote for McCain just to spite Obama if you truly endorsed Hillary's campaign. Why not use your vote to force Obama to adapt his message even more to Hillary's platform (which is virtually impossible as they are so similar) rather than voting for Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Pro-Iraq War John McCain. Sadly, I too may register as an independent, out of disgust by the conduct of many Hillary voters.

I am sadly disappointed about Hillary losing to Obama. She is a true warrior for all demographics of America. I am a disabled female veteran and have followed this election real close. Hillary and Bill both got thrown under the bus in many ways by the media and obama surrorgates and supporters. The DNC and the media will regret it. I will either stay at home or leave my absentee ballot vote blank for the choice of president, unless Mrs. Clinton is somewhere on the ticket. Party unity is b---s---.
I understand Mrs Clinton has to keep her word when she said, that she would support the nominee.

I am surprised about Harry Reid being from Nevada and she won his state and would not support her. Only Rep Berkley did, I live in Nevada and am appalled at the way Harry Reid has acted. They will all regret their decision and we will welcome President McCain, because he has been more gracious to Senator Clinton than Barrack Obama has. McCain strongly spoke out against Pfleger comments about Senator Clinton, more so than Obama has ever done. I am surprised at all the black pundits saying that all black churches speak this way. That is a lie, I am black and I have attended many black churches and I have never heard any black minister teach such hatred, and to politcize it in church and to speak of a High profile female Senator named Hillary Clinton who fought for and put her and her family's life on the line in many situations to fight for civil rights is down right scandalous.

Look at the messenger that speaks, he is organizing a revolution and not a movement. That movement is intended to overthrow the US Government, listen carefully to his words of changing the mindset of Washington old Politics, (code word for overthrowing the US. government. Enough said. Listen to the message. Vote John McCain for President 08 unless Hillary ius on the ticket and then I still might not vote for it because of OBAMA.

Sharon from Nevada

I am a black male who is a staunch supporter of the Clintons. I was with Hillary before it was the hip thing to do. And, I would have liked for her to be our democratic nominee. Yet, she underestimated her opponent. She ran a soft campaign in the beginning, and went way too easy on Obama. Her ending should have been her beginning...but, that is the way of the world. I personally believe that Obama is not experienced enough for the position. However, this is America...the land of opportunity. He certainly cannot do any worse than our last president. And, I feel he is a much better selection than McCain. All who say that they will switch to independent, and not vote...or vote for the polar opposite of Hillary...you should know that such a move is idiotic and pure foolishness. But, you have that right. Hillary fought hard in the face of opposition, and I have much love for her. May she continue forth in her efforts, and be blessed.

I am voting for the country for the future not just for one candidate. I am voting Obama

Crude Oil reaching a high
Unemployment reaching a high
Healthcare...don't get me started

Sorry I can't be too concerned if a candidate has the right genitalia. the economy is important to me and where this country is heading.

Voting for Obama 2008

Why are you Americans so childish? Obama won Clinton lost and the you go for the worst alternative McCain?

I Love Hillary! I"m heartbroken over this great loss. She is our surrogate daughter, sister, and mother. The way Hillary was treated during this campaign reminded me of the way my female family members, friends, and myself have been treated just because we are strong women. My theory has always been that Barrack was the chosen candidate right from the start, the Ralph Nader of this election if you will. The only difference is Barrack has a better look, a better voice, and he's black. How brilliant. I'm not sure how I'm voting yet, but it certainly will NOT be for John McCain. When Al Gore was running, the Nader supporters wouldn't back Gore even "though they knew Nader couldn't win, so now these same people shouldn't be so pushy towards Hillary supporters. Give us some time to grieve. If I decide to vote for Barrack to "do the right thing", my heart and soul will be with Hillary, the person I really wanted to be President. Debra Gorr from St. Paul, MN

I'm dismayed and alarmed by the irrational response of some Clinton supporters, i.e. that they will either vote for McCain or boycott the election entirely. People, listen! This general election is not about individuals (Hillary, Barak, or John M.), it is about PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNANCE and the vast differences between Republican and Democratic principles. In November, we will choose between Republican principles which heavily favor corporate American and the ultra-wealthy, and Democratic principles which favor ALL of us, and which prefer diplomacy (backed up by military strength) over unprovoked, unilateral war as a first response to international disputes. We average Americans, will ALL benefit from a Democratic presidency; look at how America thrived under FDR's and Bill Clinton's terms. ... So think twice before abandoning the basic Democratic Party philosophy in favor of a Republican philosophy which brought our country to its present troubled state as a result of 8 years of George Bush; and remember, McCain's voted to back Bush 95% of the time!! This election is NOT about personalities but about reversing the damage that's been done, about recovering and healing. Vituperative (and unfounded) charges that Obama "stole" the nomination from Clinton are destructive to our shared cause; he won it fair and square. Speaking for myself, I would have enthusiastically supported Hillary Clinton if she were the nominee; but she isn't, and I will now support Barack Obama wholeheartedly. Please reconsider, and join with the millions of Democrats and Independents (and even some "Obamacans") who will get him elected President, so that we can get something done for a change! Think it over carefully; don't let your disappointment skew your judgement.
