GOP hits Obama over Israel.

CHICAGO--That Atlantic article (see post below) about Obama and Israel triggered an attack fro GOP House leader John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Release from Boehner.....

..Also, provided below is a statement by Rep. Cantor. Thanks.

“It is truly disappointing that Senator Obama called Israel a ‘constant wound,’ ‘constant sore,’ and that it ‘infect[s] all of our foreign policy.’ These sorts of words and characterizations are the words of a politician with a deep misunderstanding of the Middle East and an innate distrust of Israel,” said Congressman Eric Cantor (R-VA-07).

“Israel is America’s most reliable ally in the Middle East and its soul mate in the search for freedom and justice. Israel isn't a 'constant sore' instead it is a constant reminder of the greatness of America. When other nations have found it easier and more profitable to appease dictators and religious zealots in the Middle East, America has never shrunk from its historic duty to support freedom. I hope Senator Obama corrects his remarks as I believe most Americans believe that a strong and secure Israel is without a doubt an advantage for America,” concluded Cantor.

BOEHNER RESPONDS TO OBAMA CLAIM THAT ISRAEL IS A “CONSTANT SORE”

BOEHNER: OBAMA HAS “FAILED TO TAKE OUR NATIONAL SECURITY SERIOUSLY”

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) responded tonight to Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama’s remark that Israel is a “constant sore” that “does infect” American foreign policy. Boehner released the following statement:

“Israel is a critical American ally and a beacon of democracy in the Middle East, not a ‘constant sore’ as Barack Obama claims. Obama’s latest remark, and his commitment to ‘opening a dialogue’ with sponsors of terrorism, echoes past statements by Jimmy Carter who once called Israel an ‘apartheid state.’ It’s another sign that Obama is part of the broken Washington Americans are rejecting.

“During his three years in the Senate, Obama and his Democratic allies have failed to take our national security seriously, opposing critical, bipartisan terrorist surveillance legislation and supporting every effort to choke off resources for our troops in harm’s way. The policies he promotes – which neatly reflect the weak national security agenda long pushed by liberal Democrats and far Left groups like MoveOn.org – are far from ‘change.’ They undermine the national security of both Israel and the United States, and give our enemies rhetorical cover to continue their campaign against the Jewish state.

“Americans expect more and deserve better from their government, and Republican candidates nationwide are ready to provide real national security solutions – the change the American people deserve – where the Democratic Majority and its presidential candidates have fallen short.”

NOTE: In an interview with The Atlantic, Obama reaffirmed his commitment to “opening up dialogue” with those who wish to see Israel destroyed. He referred to the plight of the Israeli people as a “constant wound” and a “constant sore” that “does infect all of our foreign policy.”

Boehner serves as honorary chairman of The Freedom Project (www.freedomproject.org), a political action committee (PAC) established in 1995 to provide assistance to Republican candidates for federal office. Its mission is to help Republicans earn back the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Freedom Project is committed to a better America based on freedom and security, empowered citizens and personal responsibility.

This is whacko stuff. What exactly has Sen. Obama failed to fund regarding legitimate needs in the Middleast given the present situation?
NOTHING.
I think the American people can understand a smear job when they see it--and this is nothing but a trial balloon to see what sort of stuff will 'fly'--and this doesn't pass muster, does it?

THE GOP IS RUNNING SCARED AND STARTING TO PUT WORDS IN PRESIDENT
OBAMA'S MOUTH! STOP TRYING TO PUT WORDS IN THE MAN'S MOUTH!

Remember this?
I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America,
One nation -under God, with liberty and justice for all.

Where in there do you see Israel?
The on-going tragedy that is being visited on the Palestinian people is our national shame as is the meddling, preemptive attacks, covert operations and arming groups we have labeled as terrorists in Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Syria.

What we have in common with the Palestinians, is that we have been occupied by Israel as well.
Our members of congress declare fealty to Israel or risk being ruined.

We must stand up for our right to decide our own policies free from the intervention of Israels Lobbies.

Boehner, Leiberman, Clinton, McCain and others are less afraid to commit treason against our country than they are of losing their own power or positions. They took an oath to protect our Constitution and hold up the Democratic ideals our country was founded on.
One American, one American vote. Israels lobbies don't even have to register as agents of a foreign power. People that hold dual citizen ship can hold sensitive positions. How much more proof do we need that we have been hi-jacked?

Refusing to push Israel's expansionist agenda does not equal risking our security, not does it make one anti-semitic.

This is the 2 ton elephant in the room.

Lynn...I was working under the impression that the Senator was working with speechwrters or a least some staff member who could assist him in understanding that some words or phrases are much like yelling fire in a crowded theater. When there is no fire.

Im sure you remember when Rev Jesse Jackson, called New York City, 'Hymeville'. That cerainly got the same response as yelling fire in a crowded theater.

Of course, the Senator being a clever man, he may have thought that his description of Israel as a" constant sore" would garner him votes in West Virginia.

The West Virginia vote may dissolve further after the Obama campaign dismissed one of the Senator's experts on the Middle East after it was discovered he had been meeting with members of Hammas.

Then again, the Senator being a clever man, may have seen the phrase "constant sore" as code to Hammas. I understand your pain and I'm with you.

Israel has enough nukes to take over the Middle East without US support, if Israel doesn't mind incurring the wrath of Almighty GOD and all the Arab and muslim allies, like Russia and China who now owns America. These mega-churched closeted anti-semites out to provoke Armeggedon need to get a grip. Hasn't this line of thinking done enough harm?

Senator Obama did not call Israel a constant sore, he called "the lack of resolution" to perpetual violence between Israelis and Palestinians over disputed Israeli settlements a constant sore. I know, two thoughts strung together doesn't play so well as a single sound bite, but an accurate representation of the candidates' positions would be appreciated.

When I first read his response to whether or not Israel brings America's reputation down, I had to read it twice. After reading it the second time I realize his first words were "No, no, no." When he's talking about the constant wound and sore, he's not talking about Israel as a state...he is merely talking about the situation between the Palestinians and Israelis. This situation is preventing foreign policy in the Middle East to move forward. This issues needs to be resloved before anything else can happen over there.

We fund Israel--and WHY? They failed to provide secret service to Jimmy Carter's visit to discuss things with Hamas.
ALL DUAL PASSPORT HOLDING FOLKS SHOULD BE FORCED TO GIVE UP THEIR PASSPORTS---CHOOSE ONE PLEASE.
The one chosen will say what needs to be said.

JOHN EDWARDS ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA!
HAPPY 60TH ANNIVERSARY ISRAEL!

A religious zealot talking town about other religious zealots because they don't subscribe to his belief.
