Sorry, Howard, but the stuffing of ballot boxes streetside in Minnesota (by both campaigns) after the polls closed but were overflowing, the admitted crossing over by Republicans to vote either candidate up, and the endless feeding of dollars to our corporate media require quick action, and quick change.
Why can't we just suspend this silly process and do a nationwide, one day vote for the top of the ticket? Exclude anyone who had't declared as a Democratic party member earlier in the year.
And, just to show the corporate media who's supposed to be boss, bring back the candidate ignored by them into seeming oblivion, John Edwards, for a three way nationwide vote for the top of the ticket. He suspended his campaign. He did not end it.
And then we can get onto the business at hand--the slaughter in Iraq, the care of all the people that business hurt, the healing of the carbon crisis, and any other number of very urgent items being ignored while our candidates are bowling for voters.
If the Democrats can't fix this flawed election process, can't change direction quickly in time of crisis--and this is one of those time--then what are we all about anyway?
I'll never join the party of the anti-choice, anti-life Republicans. But I will work in the future for the instant runoff ballots so that we can grow a Green party alternative safely. It will make the Democratic party more responsive to people who are less than well-heeled, calm down the Republican wing-nuts, and energize the electorate in a non-divisive way.
