It is unfortunate that you (Tavis) have taken an attitude that you are above the importance of a Presidential race. For some time now, I have admired your attempts to educate people and lift life itself.

Ever since last years gathering, you have been on an egotistical rant. I would have thought you above that but apparently the real Tavis is coming through once his feelings are hurt. While the yearly gathering is inspiring and informing, it is however, not the most important meeting in the world. While I don't want to injure your ego, the fact is that your yearly Forum is small in significance to the world events.

The fact is, there are many important people (African Americans) in this world who will not be attending your event. And, I might add, there are many that won't in the future due to your childish, egotistical behavior.

You have been considered in many good ways but now, this rant you are on because someone had the audacity to say no to you because they have something more important (like campaigning for President), you have lost the respect of many of those in the community you claim to support. The State of Black America Forum will lose some of it's credibility because of your behavior and some that would have attended will not. You have done yourself more harm than you know. You have forgotten some of your learning...."Praise in public and criticize in private."

Since I am quite older than you, let me pass on some of my learning: When you judge others, you are revealing your own fears and prejudices; And, let the refining and improving of your own life keep you so busy that you have little time to criticize others; finally, going forward, try to remember this: We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.

I'll close with a little story (brief):
Two stonecutters were asked what they were doing. The first said, "I'm cutting this stone into blocks." The second replied, "I'm on a team that's building a cathedral." Unfortunately Tavis, you are still working on blocks. Barack is working with the country to build a cathedral. One effort is certainly more important than the other.

Lastly, you have many times spoken of the "crab" mentality. Maybe it's mirror time. You have enraged your community and lowered yourself, in terms of respect. Was it worth the thirty pieces of silver?
