DORGAN ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL WITNESSES FOR HEARING ON NFL RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND FORMER PLAYERS WITH LONG TERM INJURIES

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) --- U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) announced additional names of witnesses who will appear before the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Tuesday as it conducts an oversight hearing on the National Football League’s (NFL) retirement system and its provisions for former players who are disabled as a result of long-term injuries related to their NFL career.

The hearing is Tuesday, September 18 and will begin at 10:00 AM in Room 253 of the Russell Senate Office Building.

The additional witnesses include: Daryl Johnston, FOX Sports Broadcaster and former NFL player, Dallas Cowboys; Dave Duerson, Players Trustee for the NFL Player Retirement Plan and former NFL player, Chicago Bears; Brent Boyd, former NFL player, Minnesota Vikings; Bill Bain, former NFL player, Los Angeles Rams; and Garrett Webster, son of NFL player Mike Webster of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Other witnesses already announced include Gene Upshaw, Executive Director, NFL Players Association; Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner; and football Hall of Fame members Mike Ditka, a former Chicago Bears Head Coach and former NFL player, and Gale Sayers, a former NFL player for the Chicago Bears.
