The scoop from Washington

Sweet blog special: Today in Obamaville. Barack in S.F/Portland. Michelle in Bel Air--to London in October for funders.

WASHINGTON---White House hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is launching a California offensive today, with a Women for Obama lunch in San Francisco before heading to Portland. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama (who really called her husband stinky in a Glamour Mag interview) is headed to London for several fund-raisers with Americans living in Europe on Oct. 15 at the Landmark Hotel. To be on the host committee, raise $23,000.

Fund-raisers are excised from the official Barack and Michelle schedule because the campaign does not believe the general public has any need to know about them. Not listed is a funder Michelle headlines in swanky Bel Air Friday night. The night before the Oprah bash.

From the website wilshireandwashington (a good source for news about the intersection of politics and celebrity) is this report..
The night before Barack Obama heads to Montecito to raise money at the home of Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama will be in Los Angeles for a fund-raiser at the Bel-Air home of Barry and Lea Porter. Barry Porter is managing general partner of Clarity Partners, a private equity firm specializing in media and communications. Tickets for the Sept. 7 reception are $500, with $2,300 for a listing as a chair. In addition to the Porters, those on the host committee include Nicole Avant, Giselle Fernandez, Victoria Hopper, Irena Medavoy, Sherry Lansing, Jamie and Michael Lynton, Cookie Parker, Joyce Rey and Charlie
Rivkin.
