Thanks!
I am excited for Obama to come to Seattle! While I support Obama, I would like to hear more about plans to address global poverty issues. It would cost only $19 billion to end world hunger, an entirely feasible number when compared to the $522 billion allocated to the U.S. defense budget this year. Additionally, compared to other wealthy nations, the U.S. ranks last in the percentage of its federal budget that goes to international aid (0.16%)! Furthermore, because 83% of the American public supports international aid directed towards poverty reduction, it should be a significant issue in all presidential campaigns. Our nation has the means to affect positive change, and it is time our leaders adaquately addressed this.
