Sweet blog special: Clinton sends "respect for Rutgers" message. Calls Imus remarks "bigotry and coarse sexism."

WASHINGTON--Democratic White House hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton is calling for public "support" for the Rutgers basketball team smeared by Don Imus.

Clinton is using her presidential web site to ask the public to send a message of "respect and support" to the Rutgers players.

Clinton said "Don Imus's comments about them were nothing more than small-minded bigotry and coarse sexism. They showed a disregard for basic decency and were disrespectful and degrading to African Americans and women everywhere.'

click below for Clinton message..

When our children are young, we teach them to dream big and reach for the stars, and that if they work hard enough they can accomplish anything.

This year the Rutgers women's basketball team defied the odds and lived up to their dreams, providing inspiration to every little boy and girl beginning to pick up a ball or open a book. These remarkable young women reached the pinnacle of success and won the hearts of basketball fans everywhere with their grace, skill, and poise. They are role models deserving our praise -- and our support.

Don Imus's comments about them were nothing more than small-minded bigotry and coarse sexism. They showed a disregard for basic decency and were disrespectful and degrading to African Americans and women everywhere.

Please join me in sending the young women of Rutgers a message of respect and support. Show them that we are proud to stand with them and for them.

Hillary Clinton, one of the chief architects of the infamous Clinton 'Sluts & Nuts' defense, demanding respect for women? Please! While she's sending messages, why doesn't she send a message to Paul Begala and James Carville, Democratic strategists, Hillary Clinton supporters and co-architects of the aformentioned Clinton 'Sluts & Nuts' defense, to stop defending Imus and appearing on his Show, both of whom appeared TODAY!

we have been took, hoodwinked, and bamboozled.imus has choosen race as a tool to opt out of his contract with his employer this person is headed to satellite radio. what other way could he escape from his contract but to start a race issue and inflame people so that when he leaves for satellite he will take his flock w/ him. as c. vivian stringer stated, this is about GREEN.this has been in the works ever since howard stern got that lucurtive money for crossing over, and imus is very well connected,to the ceo and owners of a satellite station. his brother is on satellite radio, and he is on his way him and the rest of that crew. goodriddens bigot.

DTD, I'm no Imus fan. I think he's arrogant, boring, and pompous. But I agree with you concerning Hillary. BTW, ESPN commentator Stuart Scott said, "rappers calling women "ho's" and "bitches" is seen as an affectionate term in his view." Unbelievable ! And we both know Hillary, NOW, the women columnists, etc. won't criticize him the least......Also, I still remember Hillary mocking Tammy Wynette about being a 'Stand by your man Women." Well, when Bill got caught with Monica, what did Hillary do? She just stood by her man, didn't she (LOL).

i remember don imus from the best days of the original lone star cafe on 13th and 5th avenue in new york. he would come there often with kinky friedman and hang out at the upstairs bar. he was always "don imus" and no one minded it at all because he was a part of the personality of the place. i also remember al sharpton. he used to come when james brown performed there, he was james' "spiritual advisor." he would rigidly stand against the wall downstairs by the bathroom just across from lee frazier and cleve hattersley's office, stare straight ahead, talk to no one and sweat profusely. i guess the word "honky" from their motto "best little honky tonk north of abeline" made him nervous. james brown used to get ready for the show in my office and at times we would talk. one time al sharpton's name came up. his response was interesting. he told me sometimes he just didnt like al, that he felt al was a "user," but sometimes he just kind of felt sorry for him because he didn't seem to have anything to do. i told him i thought al was a phony. he just laughed and said "probably." i never tell stories of what went on behind the scenes at the lone star because i was in a position of trust with the acts that performed there. al sharpton is another story. his attacks on don imus are so hipocritical(sp)that it's disgusting. he and unfortunately now the ladies from rutgers are looking at don imus as a business opportunity. when, in fact, while he's out there hissing and spitting on the barricades at injustices of the "white folk" he needs to turn around and look behind him at the terrible decay in the black communities today. they are, in many cases, more isolated from mainstream america than any of the worst days of forced segregation and they seem to be drifting into chaos. how sad....martin luther king, jr. must be crying in heaven. satan must be laughing. "reverend al sharpton." that's an oxymoron for the ages. donald reynolds, new york

Well, MSNBC, CBS, and Mr Sharpton and Mr Jackson continue to perpetuate the black/white racism. That's what they do! They could care less about the six foot basketball players.
What religion do they profess that does not accept a sincere apology and deny forgiveness? How many charities or "kids with cancer" have they helped? They are on a power trip to have someone fired at their whim and to put that "straight haired white boy" in his place. You have missed an opportunity to turn this into a positive race experience, but that is not what you want is it?

Imus or anyone should make such comments about people. But I happen to agree with Jason Whitlock's commentary : Time for Jackson, Sharpton to Step Down Pair See Potential for Profit, Attention in Imus Incident. http://sports.aol.com/whitlock/_a/time-for-jackson-sharpton-to-step-down/20070411111509990001

I do think Sharpton is using blackmails for his personal gains.

I can't beleive that such a fuss is being made of this "HO" comment by Imus. And, Sharpton being black has the balls to mention the FCC and the fact that they allow blacks to be degragated.

Why is there no mention of the "rap crap" on the radio that goes fare beyond the one comment that Imus made. Talk about degrading women both black and white!

This is all about self importance. I've got news for the press, there are most likely millions upon millions of Americans that never heard or listen to Imus before this story or lack there of broke.

Americans wonder why the rest of the world looks at us with less than favorable eyes. Its this kind of hipocracy that has made American's fools in the eyes of the world.

Imus has been offensive and insulting since day 1. I thought it was part of his job description. Typically his acrid remarks have some truth to them. And that is part of his appeal. He's not "politically correct." And in today's world, where so many politicians (and people in general) are despised for their two-faced lies and deception, his candor is a refreshing change. So what is different about this incident? Is it because this time the victims were black? Is it because they were women? Is it because they were innocent? I suspect all 3. And it made for a volatile combination. One that pushed him over the edge, unfortunately. But I think they (the girls) will get over it. Heck - they're going to be on Oprah! When all is said and done - I think they will fare quite well. God works in mysterious ways. And ps. he did apologize.

You would never know that Tennessee won the national title. And they trounced Rutgers. Thats all lost in this controversy.....Something else that is lost is Don Imus was there pal before this mess. He's extremely anti-Bush, backed Kerry, and is very much v. the war.....Oh yeah, three weeks ago, he and Bernie, when discussing Atty. General Gonzales, said, "he should resign and then caretake like all THEM KIND of people do". Where was the outrage then? Probably they were laughing too hard and agreeing with Imus's stereotype garbage. There hypocrites.

This Imus issue is another obvious example of white oppression and black privilege that is the standard in our country today. Black public figures constantly mock and degrade white people and they pay no price, yet when a white public figure maybe says something to offend blacks, they are lynched. Wake up white people, you have a bulls eye on your back and the people trying to destroy you are ruthless and possessed by the devil(Sharpton, Jackson), and will stop at nothing to exterminate you and your family.

If you white folks consider black women being referred to as "hos" by one of the most bigoted, foul-mouthed fools in history as "privileged," then you are the ones who need to be "lynched." Since this is the case, then of course, you'd have no problem with a black man referring to YOUR mother or YOUR sister as a "ho."

FIRST ID LIKE TO SAY SHARPTON IS MORE OF A RACIST THEN ANYONE IS. HE LOVES TO CAUSE UPROARS I DONT SEE THE BIG DEAL SO HE CALLED SOME PEOPLE NAMES THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CRY BABIES THAT WANTED SOME ATTENTION IF YOU ASK ME TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST I BET 99% OF THE US WOULD NEVER EVEN KNOW THAT IMUS MADE THAT COMMENT SHARPTON AND JACKSON BOTH HAVE DRAWN ALL ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER THEY ARE THE ONES WHO TURNED THIS INTO A "RACIAL" ISSUE AS THEY OFTEN DO WITH ANYTHING I DONT UNDERSTAND THEY SAY THEY WANT TO BE TREATED AS EQUALS YET THEY ARE THE ONES THAT CAUSE RACISM I GUESS ITS "OK" FOR ALL THESE BLACK RAPPERS TO CONSTANTLY REFER TO WOMEN AS BITCHES AND HOS WHY IS THAT OK?? IS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE BLACK?? SUCH A DOUBLE STANDARD I WONDER IF IMUS WAS BLACK WOULD THERE BE SUCH AN OUTRAGE??HMMMM THEY IDOLIZE DR MARTIN LUTHER KING YET THEY CERTAINLY DONT PRACTICE WHAT HE PREACHED. I WOULD SAY DR MARTIN LUTHER KING IS TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE RIGHT NOW. IF ANYTHING ALL THIS DID WAS DRAW MORE ATTENTION TO DON IMUS AND PROBABLY BRING MORE LISTENERS TO HIM WHEN HE GOES ON SATTELITE RADIO. I WAS NEVER AN IMUS FAN BUT I HAVE TO SAY IN THIS CASE HE IS DEFINATL BEING ABUSED

THIS IS TO COMMENT ON JOYCES COMMENT POSTED ON APRIL 12TH.....YES JOYCE I WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE REFERRING TO MY MOTHER AS A HO ANYONE NOT JUST A BLACK MAN BUT I WOULD CERTANLY NOT TAKE IT TO THIS EXTREME ITS REDICULOUS!! YOU TELL ME JOYCE WHY IS IT OK FOR A BLACK COMEDIAN OR RAPPER TO SAY WHATEVER THEY WANT FOR GOD SAKES THEY CONSTANTLY REFER TO WOMEN AS BITCHES AND HOS AND IF YOU ARE OFFENDED YOU JUST DONT LISTEN TO IT!!!! NO NEED TO CAUSE A HUGE OUTRAGE AND GET A MAN FIRED OVER IT

WHEN IS SHARPTON GOING TO APOLOGIZE TO DUKE HMMMMMMMM???????????

Joyce, my point is I don't like the unfair double standard. I understand blacks being offended by Imus, by if he loses his job then black public figures have to lose their jobs when they say racist things about whites. All I'm looking for is consistency, and the fact that their is no consistency, the fact that blacks don't pay a price for their racist comments proves my point that their is black privilege in this country. As for my comments about Sharpton and Hymietown Jackson, truer words were never spoken.

to Lee: Thank you for the information on where to go for that Jason Whitlock article. What a great article.

to Lee and everybody: I have another one. The April 9th, NY DailyNews Great piece by the highly-respected syndicated African-American columnist, Stanley Crouch. Its titled, "On terror front, the enemy is within." He brings up fact that since 9/11, 40,000 people (mainly young blacks & hispanics) have murdered each other on the streets of the American cities. FORTY THOUSAND ! Remember, we've lost 3000 in Iraq. We lost 58,000 in VietNam over about 12 years. We've lost 40,000 HERE IN AMERICA over just a 6 year period. So where is the outcry? Where are all the civil-rights leaders, the liberal and black columnists? Where is everybody?

http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/col/crouch/index.html

Every morning I get up and let my dogs out put the coffee on and while I wait for my coffee, I turn on this box in my living room. I am not awake yet and this Grumpy, Complaining Old Man, lights up the box. This man Imus is speaking, ranting really about the Devil- Satan, how the Devil is living in New York an elected official actually and he would warn us exhort us, that the Devil is up to NO good...then he would reassure us do his best to calm us down and he would tell us, promise that no matter what, under no circumstances would he ever, ever book the Devil on his show, even if she were running for President of the United States

Mr Imus then would ask his poor sportscaster for the Sports News..I say poor sportscaster because although Mr Imus would ask him for his sport's report, he would hardly ever let him finish before critizing this Sports Newsman about well everything about him...I don't know why, I guess he drew the short straw every morning. Then one morning the Rutger's Ladys Basketball team, drew the short straw...now I know you all think Don Imus got fired for calling the Lady's Basketball team "Nappy Headed Hos" but I have woken to Imus making worse insults to just as nice people. So I asked myself Why Now? Why this Insult? then I remembered Mr Imus warned us repeatedly about the Devil-Satan, was running for President of the United States, and it appears there were "Nappy Headed Hos involved" but it doesn't have anything to do with a Lady's Basketball Team. Mr Imus has been Silenced, and it only serves one person's purposes...now there is no one on the morning cable news broadcasted out of New York, warning anyone about the Devil...and the Devil hopes you are naive enough to think this is a story about a lady's basketball team being insulted

I would like everyone to use mapquest and their knowledge of geography and look up where Harlem is located...then try and find the President of U.S., that has offices in Harlem..then see if there is any relationship to the State Senator that is running for President from New York...then see if the People who have been so vocal about having Mr Imus fired, have any relationship to either this President or this Presidential Canidate for 2008 Election...There were Nappy Headed Hos involved but not the ones you think...

Mr Imus warned us about the Devil and now it looks like the Gaurdian of the Box has been removed "Silenced"...Right now the Devil hopes the only thing you remember Mr Imus saying is "Nappy Headed Hos" counting on it actually...tell your family, tell your friends, you have been warned. Don Imus made a stupid joke but he isn't trying to rule the free world.

Sue, I'd like for you to show me once in my message where I stated that it is okay for black rappers or ANYONE to call women--Black or white--:Ho's. I feel that anyone--Black, White, or Green--who refers to any woman of any race in such a degrading manner is precisely what I said--a foul mouth low class fool! So let's be clear, young lady. Not once did I say that it is okay. I don't believe in double standards. Rappers who engage in such lyrics should, in fact, be held to the same standards. I'm offended my Mr. Imus' remarks not only as a black woman, but as a woman--period!!! And as for me not watching Imus if I didn't like his show, let me be clear about that too. I'd never heard of the moron before now. And one other point, Sue. As for Jesse Jackson and his "hymietown" slur. Jesse Jackson was talking to an "acquaintance" when he made that remark--an "acquaintannce" who happened to be a reporter and published this tidbit to "stir up controversy." As a reporter, he had that right. But let me ask you Sue: Have you not made disparaging racial remarks to a friend when you thought the conversation was only between the two of you? Making a racial slur to a friend is in no way to be compared to transmitting bigotry, disrespect and disparaging remarks about undeserving young ladies across FCC regulated media to be heard by millions of people. You know better than that, Sue. I'm an independent thinking black woman, and no fan of Jesse Jackson's, but right is right, and there's no comparison here. I'm about as interested in further dialogue abour Sir Imus as I am in gaining 90 pounds this six weeks before bikin season. So, go and have yourselves a great weekend everybody!!!

P.S. It would be difficult to fire Jesse Jackson (the "public figure" to whom you referred)from his job, Sue. Ya see, he's self-employed.

Anonymous:

Why should Sharpton apologize for Duke? A gentleman by the namme of Mr. Nifong is the person who accused and charged the Duke players? Why not give Mr. Nifong a call and ask him? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?????????? And Jerry, as for civil rights leaders complaining about Vietnam? Vietnam happened before you, I and most civil rights leaders were even born. This does not dismiss the fact that DON IMUS referred to a group of beautiful, black young ladies who were minding their own damn business as "hos." Imagine someone calling your mother or your sister a "ho." I am inferring from the messages I am reading here is that we--black women--should be so accustomed to being referred to in such degrading ways, it is no big thing. And that is, in and of itself, very offensive to me as well. I'm not sure where--and why--you have concluded that we don't care about our dignity as much as many of you. That very much sounds like a superior attitude to me.

Sue. I neglected to add--As a woman--period, aren't you offended by such language? You should be. Any decent woman should be--regardless of whom utters the words.

John, the liberal and black columnists are only concerned with going after and destroying white people. So crime in black neighborhoods does not fit that agenda.

to Jerry: A black principal was fired yesterday. He had been Principal at Sandridge School in Lynwood, Illinois. He was finally fired, reason being they got him for having sex with a teacher in his office. They caught him because he had forgotten the video tape machine was on (LOL). However, Jerry, parents had been after him for a year. Do you know why? He always called all the children "white trailer trash." A very racist remark, coming from a black principal. So I ask, "where were all the politically-correct thought police, the media columnists, the Jacksons, etc. Nobody ever heard about it. Yes, there is a DOUBLE STANDARD.

I'm a black female high school teacher who teaches in a mostly white high school. If I called one of my white female students a "stringy haired ho" or ANY student of ANY race such a derogaory name, shouldn't I be fired? Damn right I WOULD and SHOULD be! Just as any other person on a job--like Mr. Imus!!!

P.S. John: Please tell me where you read that the Lynwood principal called white kids "trailer park trash." I've been following this story on a lot of different media, including CNN International, and not once have I heard about this slur. If he did do it, he should have and would have been fired on the spot! Additionally, why didn't the white media step in to protect these kids and demand that this scumbag be fired if it is true that this was going on? Don't blame black folks for white folks' failure to get on the case. And Jerry, it wasn't liberal and black columnist who fired Imus. MSNBC and CBS are comprised mostly of white folks. Go check it out!!!

OK THE BOTTOM LINE DON IMUS MADE A JOKE PERIOD HE DID NOT OFFEND ME AS A WOMAN HE WASNT CALLING ME OR ANYONE I KNOW A "HO" IM NOT SAYING ITS RIGHT WHAT HE SAID I JUST THINK THAT THIS WHOLE THING WAS TAKEN WAY TOO FAR WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BAKET BALL TEAM??? DID HE HURT THEM MAYBE THERE FEELINGS BUT THEY WILL STILL GO ON AND PLAY BASKETBALL GETTING A MAN FIRED FOR A JOKE IS ABSURD MAKING SUCH A BIG ISSUE OUT OF THIS IS ABSURD THERE ARE MANY OTHER THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT IN THIS NATION NOW HELLO WE ARE AT WAR!!!!! I AM NOT BY ANY MEANS A RACIST BUT THOSE 2 MEN (JACKSON AND SHARPTON) IN MY OPINION DO NOTHING BUT CAUSE PROBLEMS AND TURN SMALL WORDS INTO RACISM I WONDER IF THAT BASKETBALL TEAM WAS PREDOMINATLY WHITE AND IMUS CALLED THEM A DEROGETORY NAME I WONDER IF SHARPTON OR JACKSON WOULD BE INVOLVED I WONDER IF ANYONE WOULD REALLY CARE. BLACKS ARE FAR FROM UNDERPRIVILEDGED ANYONE BLACK WHITE SPANISH BLUE PURPLE IF ANYWONE WORKS HARD THEY CAN ACHEIEVE THERE GOALS NO MATTER WHAT COLOR THEY ARE JUST AS THE VIETNAM WAR HAPPENED BEFORE MY TIME SO HAS SLAVERY IT IS ALL IN THE PAST SO I THINK ITS TIME WE "GET OVER IT" AND STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR RACISM!!!!

I NEVER SAID THAT YOU SAID IT WAS OK FOR RAPPERS TO CALL WOMEN BITCHES AND HOS WHAT IM SAYING IS WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO SO WITHOUT ANYTHING BEING SAID???WHY IS IT OK FOR AN AFRICAN AMERICAN TO USE THE "N" WORD FIRST OFF ALL DO THEY EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT IS ITS NOT JUST "BLACK" THAT WORD IS JUST A STUPID IGNORANT WORD AND SHOULD NOT BE USED BY ANYONE!!! BLACK OR WHITE!!! BUT WHEN I HEAR BLACKS REFERING TO THERE BUDDIES AS THAT IT SICKENS ME YET IF I WAS TO APPROACH AN AFRICAN AMERICAN AND SAY " YO WHAT UP MY N" I DONT HTINK THEY WOULD APPRECIATE IT.AFRICAN AMERICANS HAVE MANY RIGHTS FREEDOM OF SPEECH BEING ONE TOTAL FREEDOM OF SPEECH THEY HAVE THE "UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND" WHAT IF WE HAD A UNITED "WHITE" COLLEGE FUND???? NO THAT WOULD BE "WRONG" AND RACIST THEY HAVE BLACK HISTORY MONTH THEY WANT TO BE TREATED AS EQUALS AND NOT BE "SEGRAGATED" YET THEY SEGRATE THEMSELVES I ONCE CALLED THE UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND JUST TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I APPLIED WELL I GAVE THEM ALL OF MY INFO THEY TOLD ME I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET ASSISTANCE WITH NO PROBLEM THEN I TOLD THEM OH BY THE WAY I AM A WHITE WOMAN DOES THAT MATTER? WELL SUDDENLY THERE TUNE CHANGED THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO LOOK FURTHER INTO IT THEY SAID THIS IS THE UNITED "NEGRO" COLLEGE FUND THAT TO ME IS PURE RACISM I TRULEY BELIEVE THAT ALL PEOPLE SHOULD BE TREATED AS EQUALS WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS PEOPLE SHOULD REALLY LISTEN TO THE WORDS OF THE LATE DR MARTIN LUTHER KING AND STOP ALL OF THIS "BLACK AND WHITE" NONSENSE THE WORLD SHOULD NOT BE SEEN IN COLORS EVERY HUMAN BEING SHOULD BE EQUAL

Enjoy your weekend everyone, and please remember to add periods at the ends of your sentences, avoid using run-ons and sentence fragments, use contractions as they should be used, and please refrain from using words that you don't understand how to use--regardless of your race. It's time for me to sign off of here forever. Bye Sue. Bye everybody!!!

to Joyce: Very fair request. This is actually been an on-going fued, confrontation, controversy, etc. whatever you want to call it between Coleman and the parents. Only in the last day or two have the big boys (Trib, Sun-Times, NBC) got their noses into it. And only because of the proof offered by the video tape concerning the sex acts inside the principal's office. As for all these 'white trailer trash' comments which angered the parents, only the local paper out here (my girl friend lives in Lynwood) reported it, the 'Hammond Times'. Now called the NWI Times (Illinois Edition). As for proof, I'll do better then that. I will furnish you the main reporters for this paper, JOAN CARREON and CHRIS KELLER, who seem to always be involved on this case. And you can reach this newspaper at 1-219-933-3223. After you call that number, ask to speak to these two young reporters. Joyce, also the parents of the Alpine Village Mobile Home Park in Lynwood, Il. are the ones really after Coleman's rear-end, as they say. The main parents whose names have been coming up for the past month are Kim Grivakis, Rosie Solis, Regina Okonski, and Angela Wallace. Because you are a concerned teacher, perhaps Joan and Chris can put you in contact with some of the parents. Or tell you when the next parents meeting is and when. I'm sure you'd be welcomed. Hey, if you got a 'Masters, maybe you can land a principal's job there (LOL).

PS: BTW, Joyce, in your reply to Jerry, you were partially correct. In the end, it was the SPONSERS of Imus's Show who got him fired. By pulling their advertisements. Listen, I'm elated he's gone. Because like I said, "he's a pompous, arrogant, cheap-shot." My only problem is the double-standard and the fact Imus has made cracks at other groups and nobody cared. As for saying Jackson is a private citizen, so his racist comments don't count, is not quite true. Reason: Everybody NOW KNOWS whats in his thoughts. That he's a hypocrite. And lets remember, he writes a weekly column for the Sun-Times. So he representing a media outlet.

Again to Joyce: Nifong did apologize. He sent out a statement the other night. A couple of talkshows played it. That shows what an idiot this guy really is. Because now he's really opened himself up to a civil suit by the defendents and has given the North Carolina Bar Association the ammo to dis-bar him down the road. BTW, the name of the accuser is Crystal Gail Mangum. Drudge has made her name public on his DrudgeReport. Also, two additional pages of her past charges on a couple of police reports. He put it out about 3 nights ago. It was TheSmokingGun something.

DON IMUS A RACIST? EXCUSE ME? I DON'T BUY IT & CAN'T BELIEVE ANYONE WHO'S LISTENED TO HIS SHOW MUCH COULD BELIEVE IT, EITHER. CANTANKEROUS OLD FOGEY, SURE, BUT NO MORE THAN THAT. LOW-BROW SATIRE, SURE. JUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE BOTH USING THE SAME WORD DEFINITIONS WHEN YOU START DECYPHERING EACH OTHERS SENTENCES. YOU KNOW, I HAD A REAL GOOD FRIEND IN THE ARMY. HE SAVED MY LIFE ONE DAY. I THANKED THAT SON-OF-A-BITCH, TOO! YES, I CALLED HIM A SON-OF-A-BITCH, EVEN THOUGH, IN REALITY, HE ISN'T LITERALLY. I STILL LOVE THAT SOME-OF-A-BITCH TODAY, TOO! IT'S CALLED AFFECTION, I THINK!
NOW, KEEP IN MIND I DIDN'T SEE THE PARTICULAR SHOW THAT CAUSED ALL THE HOOPLA, JUST A CLIP OF THE FEW 'DEROGATORY' WORDS THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM, TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT, NOT THE WHOLE SENTENCE. I DON'T LIVE ON YOUR STREETS, BUT AS A GARDENER I KNOW WHAT A HOE IS, AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN TO ME, AND THAT IS A GARDEN TOOL WITH A LONG HANDLE THAT IS USED TO LOOSEN & AERATE THE SOIL. I AM ALSO AWARE OF AT LEAST ONE OF THE NEW MEANINGS, THOUGH I'M SURE I DON'T KNOW ALL OF THEM. LISTEN PEOPLE, PLEASE, WE CAN'T KEEP UP IF OTHER PEOPLE DECIDE TO CHANGE THE MEANING OF A WORD EVERYTIME WE TURN AROUND WITHOUT FILLING US IN ON THE CONCEPT & GIVING US THE NEW DEFINITION & TELLING US HOW IT IS USED (BY THEM) YESTERDAY, TOMORROW & TODAY!
TO ASSUME THAT YOU KNOW WHAT A PERSON MEANS, WHEN YOU'RE NOT 100% SURE, IS A SIN OF THE HIGHEST DEGREE & CONTRARY TO HUMAN NATURE, I HOPE. TRIAL BY LYNCHING! ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T KEEP IN TOUCH WITH US ON HOW TO USE 'YOUR' WORDS. WE ARE TRYING TO GET TO KNOW YOU, DON'T EXPECT THE TRANSFORMATION TO BE IMMEDIATE AND/OR PERFECT! AND IF YOU'VE NEVER HEARD THE TERM 'NAPPY-HEADED' USED AS AN AFFECTATION, THEN YOU ARE WAY OUT OF THE LOOP & HAVE PROBABLY NOT HEARD THE TERM AT ALL THAT MUCH. I WAS ALWAYS LED TO BELIEVE THAT THE COMBINED TERMINOLOGY "NAPPY-HEADED HO" THAT IMUS REPORTEDLY USED WAS USED TO INDICATE A STUBBORN YOUNG LADY OF INDETERMINATE COURAGE AND HEROISM WHO WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO ACHIEVE HER GOAL, A 'NO-HOLDS-BARRED' FIGHTER FOR A CAUSE, DETERMINED, BUT I DON'T LIVE WITH YOU SO I REALLY DON'T KNOW! IN OTHER WORDS, THE DUMMY (IMUS) MOST LIKELY REALLY THOUGHT (AS DID I IMMEDIATELY) THAT HE WAS GIVING A COMPLIMENT TO THEIR (THOSE WONDERFUL YOUNG LADIES) HEROIC RISE IN THE TOURNAMENT & NOT MEANT TO BE DEROGATORY AT ALL, JUST SHEAR AMAZEMENT AT HOW FAR THEY GOT, THOUGH I DO UNDERSTAND HOW WHAT HE SAID COULD BE MISINTERPRETED BY SOMEONE IF THEY CHOSE TO MISINTERPRET IT. IT TOOK ME A MINUTE TO REALIZE HOW IT MAY ALSO BE USED IN A DEROGATORY MANNER, BUT I DON'T RECALL HIS PEERS DRESSING HIM DOWN LIKE THEY USUALLY DO WHEN HE STEPS OUT OF LINE. THAT'S WHAT I'M USED TO, ESPECIALLY CHARLES, WHO LITERALLY SCREAMS AT HIM WHEN HE STEPS OUT OF LINE AND SAYS THE WRONG THING! I DIDN'T HEAR IT THAT WAY BECAUSE I PAID ATTENTION TO HIS SPEACH PATTERN, SYNTAX & RHYTHYM. HE WAS AMAZED!
I WAS AMAZED, TOO & PROUD OF THEM, SO MAYBE THAT THOUGHT IN ITSELF MADE ME UNDERSTAND WHAT HE SAID THE WAY THAT I DID! LOOK, I'VE LISTENED TO HIS SHOW FOR MANY YEARS & THOUGH I DON'T ALWAYS AGREE WITH HIM HE NEVER SEEMED TO PICK ON ANYONE MORE THAN THEY ALLOWED, KEEPING IN MIND I HAVEN'T SEEN/LISTENED TO ALL OF HIS SHOWS, JUST A SMALL PERCENTAGE. HE DOES STEP OUT-OF-BOUNDS ON OCCASION. SO DO WE ALL. YOU SHOULD SEE HOW HE TREATS TERRY BRADSHAW, BUT TERRY GETS THE JOKES. LOOK, WE DON'T NEED TO BE FORGIVEN FOR OUR IGNORANCE, THOUGH IT WOULD BE NICE, JUST KEEP US INFORMED! MAKING ME THE 'INFIDEL' BECAUSE OF MY IGNORANCE MAKES YOU THE PERSECUTOR & YOU DON'T DESERVE THAT, I'M SURE. THE IDEA OF IMUS AS A RACIST IS INCONCEIVEABLE TO ME. AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE BEEN ON THE RECEIVING END OF WORDS SLUNG IN MY GENERAL DIRECTION BY AL SHARPTON & JESSE JACKSON, EVEN THOUGH THEY DON'T KNOW ME AT ALL, I UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY SAY WHEN I READ BETWEEN THE LINES!
I HOLD NO GREAT GRUDGE, BUT THEIR VIEWS DISAPPOINT ME OFTEN & THEY APPEAR RACIST TO ME WHEN THEY DO THAT, SO QUICK TO POINT THE FINGER, PULL THE TRIGGER! OH, THEY DIDN'T ATTACK ME PERSONALLY, BUT I WAS LUMPED IN A GENERAL TERM AS ONE OF 'YOU PEOPLE' & I DIDN'T APPRECIATE IT, EITHER. AND 'YOU' OF ALL PEOPLE, SHOULD KNOW HOW "THAT" FEELS! SO WHILE YOU SIT THERE TRYING TO DECIDE IF YOU CAN OR CARE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IN THE FORM OF AN APOLOGY, I'M GOING TO SIT HERE WITH MY BITCH (A 3-YEAR OLD COLLIE/LAB MIX & TRULY A WONDERFUL DOG), LISTEN TO SOME REALLY BITCHIN' MUSIC ON MY STEREO, AND TRY TO DECIDE IF MY BOSS IS GOING TO BITCH AT ME TOMORROW FOR NOT BRINGING IN THE NORTON ACCOUNT FOR WHAT WE HAD HOPED. I THINK I'LL SAY A PRAYER FOR LARRY, TOO. I REALLY MISS THAT SON-OF-A-BITCH.
AS FOR THE LANGUAGE BARRIER, YOU LOST ME BACK IN THE 60's-70's WHEN HOT BECAME COOL AND GOOD BECAME BAD! OR IS IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND?

Joyce, something bothers me in your response to Jerry. You asked and rightfully so, "Imagine someone calling your mother or your sister a 'ho'." Joyce, I'm not defending Imus. He got what he had coming. Hey, like I've said before, he's insulted people and various groups all along. But because he's a Bush-basher, was a Kerry backer, and anti-war(so am I), they didn't go after him. When he said Atty.General Gonzales should caretake lawns like all THEM PEOPLE do, they laughed with him. Its only after women groups turned vs. him after his latest that they went after him. Now back to what you asked Jerry. Whats my problem with it? Very simple. Where were people like you when the comedians, rappers, etc. were saying "ho" and "bitch" and other derogatory comments? I'm sorry, but you were ALL quiet. And I'll tell you something else. You will go back to being quiet. This will blow over as far having some permanent effects. Do you know why? Because the music industry and motion-picture industry are among the absolute biggest contributors to political campaigns and so-called civil rights activists. In the overall picture, they are NOT going to bite the hand that is needed to feed them.

to Jerry, Joyce, Sue, and others: see 'DrudgeReport' (Sunday,4/15/07) and or you probably can go to

http://www.wistv.com/Global/story.asp?5=6368690&nav=menu36_3

anyway, there was a concert at South Carolina State University last night. Home of the FIRST DEMOCRATIC DEBATE. Anyway, in one song the N-word was used over 100 times...Like I said in a prior reply, the music industry gives too much money to political candidates and civil-rights activists. Therefore, they will NOT be cleaning up the language soon. This was some proof to what I said.

Everybody, that wistv.com site I gave all of you, well they already are putting up a message, Our Apologies, then they say they regret saying there changing it, what have you. In otherwards, somebody is arm-twisting them to not let it out about the demeaning language at that SC State concert. Maybe even because the first democratic debate is scheduled there. Anyway never fear, just go to the 'The Drudge Report'. (Sunday, 4/15/07) His site will not be intimidated. He has it.

I am happy to read all this succes: you deserve it completely. Proud to work with you in Boston, next june. Please, take all the good thoughts streaming from my heart to you...
