ROCKFORD – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) will hold a public forum with Rep. Don Manzullo, Amtrak Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Joe McHugh, Illinois Transportation Secretary Tim Martin, officials from Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Boone, DeKalb, Ogle and Winnebago counties, and passenger rail supporters to discuss restoring Amtrak’s passenger rail service in Northwest Illinois.

The meeting is taking place as a result of a letter Durbin wrote to Amtrak president David Hughes in May. Durbin, who organized the meeting, has long been committed to bringing passenger rail service to the northwest Illinois region.

The meeting will be open to the public.
