Murtha and Schakowsky on Iraq
Murtha and Schakowsky came to the Iraq war from opposite perspectives. The former Marine, the ranking Democrat on the House Defense Appropriations panel who backed the war, triggered a national debate last November when he called for the U.S. to pull its troops from Iraq.
Schakowsky voted against the war and is a leader of the House "Out of Iraq'' caucus.
Murtha, in a separate event, will also headline a political fund-raiser for Schakowsky.
Jackson, Jr., DuSable: host Liberian prez
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) and DuSable Museum of African American History on Tuesday host a Chicago visit for Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the new president of Liberia and the first woman to lead any African nation. It's at 9 a.m. at the museum, 740 E. 56th. Pl.
Obama Road trip
On Saturday, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) heads to Nebraska to headline fundraiser to benefit Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Ne.) and the Nebraska Democratic party.
