Loyola announced on Thursday the hiring of Jeremy Schoenecker as its new girls basketball coach. Schoenecker replaces longtime coach Tanya Johnson, who resigned in July. Johnson was also an associate athletic director at Loyola.
Schoenecker comes from the Faith, Hope and Charity grammar school in Winnetka where he is a physical education teacher and athletic director. Loyola AD Pat Mahoney said Schoenecker developed Faith, Hope and Charity's basketball progam there. Mahoney added that Schoenecker will also assume associate athletic director duties in the coming weeks and takes over the Ramblers' girls basketball program effective immediately.
Schoenecker played college ball at Illinois Benedictine from 1995-2000 and went to high school at Notre Dame.
