Galena has been named the eighth Chicago Sky girls basketball team of the week.
The Pirates are very active in the Galena community and have helped the Special Olympics and the Galena Police Department's Christmas Fund, where they held a free-throw-a-thon. Through these charitable activities, the Galena girls basketball program has seen an increase in the number of girls who have participated.
The team will be honored during a Sky game this summer.
