The Chicago Sky has named its first-ever girls basketball team of the week.
Tinley Park earned the honor this week after the Sky received over a dozen nominations.
The Titans, coached by Tim Schynders, all maintain a B average and participated in a “Hoops for Hunger” summer camp, where campers brought in canned goods to donate to a local food pantry. The team is still collecting donations and will also referee games for handicapped children next month.
Tinley Park will have a “Team Night Out” during a Sky game next summer and will be honored during the game.
The Sky started the program to honor varsity teams that have done more than just win games. Teams are chosen based on sportsmanship and leadership on and off the court, as well as community involvement. For more information check out www.chicagosky.net.
