The new girls basketball season starts Monday and our girls basketball preview ran today. You might have noticed that I ranked 26 teams Sunday instead of 25, which ran in the preseason rankings on Wednesday. I had to rank 26 teams Sunday because I inadvertently omitted Warren. It was a mistake, a grave error on my part and I apologized to the folks over at Warren. Rather than dropping a team, I just decided to have two teams at No. 25. Next Monday, the 19th, the rankings will go back to the customary 25 teams.

Tina, I really enjoy your work, as I was raised in chicago, where I attended high school and college. I feel that you are missing out on The best point guard in the chicagoland area and her name is Bianca Jarrett. She is now at Waukegan high school, formerly of Zion-Benton. I would match her up against any point guard in the state, and I bet my house that none can defend her.
Check her out in the Whitney Young tournament.

Tina:
I just wanted to say I really enjoy your coverage of girls basketball in the Chicago land area. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago and played H.S. Football at South Shore. After attending college and returning home it has been refreshing to see the coverage the girls are getting. H.S. Athletics played an important stabilizing force in my life. I'm sure it's doing the same for the girls.
There is a school up north that you might want to pay a little attention to, The Lady Mustangs of Mundelein. I've watch this team go about 2 months with only 1 loss. They play a special brand of defense that will cause all kinds of problems for opposing teams. They are flying under the radar and they want it that way. There is a young freshman name Olivia Dunigan that may have more speed, quickness and athleticism than one normally expects in a young girl who has just turned 14. At 5'9" she will be one of the top rebounders in the lake county area. This team is going to make some noise. Keep us out of the top 25 as long as you can....
Keep up the great work!

I don't see how Montini with a 5 and 4 record could be ranked. They are a good team, but their conference is not like the East Suburban. there is alot of other teams out there that plays in a tougher conference that has a better record that deserves to be ranked instead of Montini. Iam sorry I just don't see it.
