It's no secret that kids and adults alike are foul-ball crazy. If for some reason you need yet another reminder, here's a bizarre sequence of events that took place over the weekend at Tropicana Field.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Sean Rodriguez sliced a fly ball into the stands down the right-field line that found its way into a trash can. As one fan dutifully dove headfirst into the unsanitary realm for a souvenir, another overly zealous ball hawk jumped into the fray. A bit of a fracas broke out and ballpark security stepped in and took control.
One fan was apparently ejected and the ball was deemed best left in the trash receptacle because it was causing too much trouble amongst the fans near the party area.
