Penn State coaching legend Joe Paterno was hospitalized after a collision with one of his wide receivers during practice on Sunday.

The 84-year-old was undergoing tests on his right arm and hip, the school announced Monday. Wideout Devon Smith blindsided the Hall of Fame coach during drills.

"I expect to be back at practice soon," Paterno said in a statement. "I'm doing fine; tell everyone not to worry about me."

Paterno could be released within the next 24 hours and surgery will likely not be needed, the school said.
